I have a Savage 12fv .22-250 with a 26" barrel and would like to have the barrel cut down to 20". I am looking at buying a Savage .243 and would probably have it also cut down to the 20".

Do you think I would see any problems with accuracy or ...?

Thanks.

Got it back today from a local gunsmith.   I'm very happy with how it turned out.  Now if the weather would cooperate I can get out and see how it shoots.

Why do you want to cut the barrels shorter??

Re: .22-250 and .243 barrel shortening ?

I had it shortened because I always felt like the 26" was like having a broom handle on my gun. Just my preference and makes it a little more "handy" also. Now I would like to change the stock to a thumbhole. Hard to find one since it is a cnterfeed and a blind magazine.

I put an early 93 in their stock that they said wouldn't fit. I opened the barrel
channel a little for the wider area in front of the receiver and did a lot of bedding
to add back material that was needed. Not too difficult.

Got Diesel, still looking at the tundra deluxe but am concerned about one thing. Opening the barrel channel doesn't bother me but on the web site, there is a Varmint thumbhole stock Long Range Varmint On this stock it says that pillars need to purchased or taken out of the original stock. I don't really see these in mine. Do you know if the Tundra Deluxe would have to have anything done with pillars?
