Anyone using this combo? Have you found it to be very temp sensitive? How big of a fps swing and how much did your load change?

From mid 50 degrees to mid 30s, I am losing about 100 or feet per second. Am going to run another OCW to find a cold weather load.

In my experience 380 is a filthy, foul prone powder. A switch to H4895 cleaned things up with no loss of velocity. This spring I'll be testing 8208 with 50's, expecting good things.

The real speed is V V 540, if you can afford it.

I use to use H380 for my 22-250 but didn't characterize the temp sensitivity. I eventually went to Varget and the Sierra 55 gr Blitzking. Very accurate and 3600 fps.

I am shooting 55gr Nosler BT Varmint at 3490 above 50 degrees. I went to the range Wednesday, ir was 37 degrees, and averaged 3380 and groups doubled in size.

I have noticed that it is kinda dirty but it shot like a laser so was worth it until now. Will keep the VV in mind as soon as I burn through the 8lbs of H380 that I have on hand.

38g of h380 with a 55g is an old accuracy load for the 22-250. It shot great in my first 22-250, I haven't used any in years because there are these powders called Varget and 8208. LOL It looked like 4166 could give more velocity than those two according the Hodgdon data. I want to say it took about 8 pounds of h380 to shoot that first barrel out.

380 got it's name from Bruce Hodgdon loading 38.0 grains under a 52 grain sierria hp The #25 or #26 manual had a picture of the .0xx group. Quite a few substitutes cfe223 is pretty clean in my 308 with the 195tmk I haven't seen drastic changes but I don't shoot in the summer. Enduron 4166 would be the most stable powder close to the same burn rate. The new 6.5 Winchester ball powder might be the highest velocity if you can get a 100%+ case fill. I still have some H414 which produced scorching speeds with the 52tnt. I didn't have a crony back then but it did make bigger puff of feathers on crows
