22 creedmoor vs 22gt

If one wanted to go with a 16.5" or 18" barrel length for a more maneuverable varmint hunting rig, which of these two would they choose?
I would go with 22GT in a short barrel varmint rig. If you don’t have the barrel length to burn the slow powders 22Cm needs, you might as well go with the smaller powder column and save money and barrel life.

I have a 26" 6GT that Bugholes spun up for my AT-X. I don't compete, I just like AI's and wanted to give the GT a try. It's stupid accurate with 105 hybrids @ just under 3,000 fps. I gotta believe that 22GT will perform similarly and I'd like to replace the R700 in .223Rem that I've had for years. I simply don't find the pleasure in shooting it anymore (it's just not an AI). :)

I have/had both

22 creed in 17" barrel pushing 60 vmaxes hard I got 3700fps and good accuracy.

22 GT with 18" barrels, I'm getting 3500fps with the same bullet. My accuracy is almost unbelievable (10twist barrels). I'm also using 3-4 grains less powder.

Looking back, for the varmint bullets, I am 100% happier with the GT and now have 5 barrels spun up, 2 are rechambered from the 22 creed. I'm using H4895 and so far my furthest was 370yds on a coyote last week with my thermal.

On the GT with varmint weight projectiles what freebore did you go with? 120 or 169? I'm probably gonna go 1:8 as I want to do a CF barrel for this one.

GT looks interesting. Currently been running a 16” 1-8t 22creed sending 60g Bergers varmits at 3360fps. Not pushing them real hard but it’s pretty accurate at that node.

My 25" barrel 22 creed was running 3900fps with 60s, but I made it 180 rounds on prairie dogs before I was having bullets fragment after leaving the barrel.

I went all carbon barrels and the lightest chassis and stocks available for hunting. I have heavier bullets, but for now, 60 vmaxes are easy to get and I have a real good stockpile. So far, the past year, no coyotes needed a follow up shot using the 22 GT and I'm good with that. The other plus, it's a dedicated small rifle primer case and I have a good supply of primers from back when they were $23 per 1k
