.223- buy an LTR or chop a 700P?

I want an LTR in .223 Rem. Seems they are like hen's teeth right now. I have a 700P (it's for sale

) and I'm starting to wonder if I should just chop off 6 inches and call it good. Thoughts on this?

You allready have a PSS, chop it.... Dont waist ur time trading rifles and all that shit. Punch it out to 223AI.....
ITD Is affordable to do all this.

Big +1

This way you end with with a great chamber, throat, and crown, plus a fantastic cartridge.

OK.....

What's the difference with a .223AI (ackley improved?). Not trying to re-invent the wheel or expand my reloading choices/duties. Just want a handy .223 that shoots like a laser.

If I chop it, any recommendations on a good smith in the greater Minneapolis area? Or other areas, but trying to avoid a pile of shipping costs. Thanks!

I say cut it down, save yourself the hassle. there is a guy in that area named Jim Kobe, he is excellent, i have unfortunately lost his info, but it would be worth your time to track him down.
