So I'm ready to give the .224 Valkyrie a try, I have plenty of other toys, but I'm interested in it purely for night varmit/pig round, as I do Deer Management Permits for crop depredation for local farmers (ITS A SWEET JOB). I get paid to shoot coyotes, deer, etc. with thermal optics, dream job for a disabled vet, plus I can put it on one of my pre-existing lowers and just swap out mags. It's a bonus to play around with the round at distance. That being said, whats available out there... preferrably uppers.

Some that I know of:

- Palmetto State Armory (don't like that they left the barrels stainless, wish they coated them)
- CMT (24" barrel is a bit long for me to be swinging around)
- CMMG (same comment as CMT)
- Savage MSR (gotta buy it as a rifle, maybe if it was setup like their MSR Long Range version with a 22" barrel)

After naming all the flaws I have with each setup, I'm dreading that I might have another build in front of me...

I talked with Larue in the hopes that they would do a rifle in .224 (not like the Surg), like the 6.5 grendel in fde kit they have on their site. However, they have no plans (that they are talking about currently).

Hmm... Barrett, I just can’t see anything other that the M82A1 I used overseas when it comes to Barrett. I’m sure they are just as overpriced as well... how are their AR platforms? Any experience?

JP, if you can wait.

Sounds like a great round for what you are looking to do.

Honestly, I think a JP is a little overkill in terms of price vs what I'm using it for. I'm not in it for the hype or becoming some PRS shooter and if it can do half the stuff they claim, then hell any 416 SS barrel by about any manufacturer nowadays will be within the same wheelhouse as a JP barrel. Just about every company buys blanks for the top guys and all the top guys are copying each other's technology to stay current (Cryo treating, air gauging, etc.). There is only so much you can do with a barrel and I can't justify buying a barrel at the cost of any entirely built upper in .224 already ready to go.

LRSooter - Mike Milli - the owner, has been in business for more than 20 years. He makes a fantastic product and is so helpful in discussing build specs. The guys over on Predatormasters love him. His uppers are top notch

I did some research into him and I think he might be the way to go. Does he offer any Hide pricing?
