i recently had a 243win rifle built for shooting the dtac. With Lapua brass and the 115 dtac my coal to the lands only measures 2.7710. That puts A LOT of the bullet inside the case. Is this a problem or should i just shoot it and let the throat wear??? Or is my throat just too short??

Re: 243 seating depth question

The are some things that we just can't escape. A little throat wear in 243 is one of them, but its not as bad as what its made out to be as long as you give sufficient cooling time. Use slow powders. Is your caliper reading correct because my 95 SMKs are 2.8-2.810 mag length. I really thought the 115s would be around 2.875 & up.

if you got the rifle to specifically shoot these bullets then do it, JMO

never shot the Dtac 115's, I would just load them up and with so much bullet in the case be careful of early pressure, definitely work up the load slow and steady.

2.77 COAL doesn't seem that short. with smaller bullets 95VLD i load out to 2.83 COAL and that is barely enough bullet in the neck to stabilize it

But i don't think you will have a problem (don't quote me on that)
