Saturday morning was cold, well cold for South Texas, no deer worth shooting, but the Coyotes are a different story.

The rig: AI AW 300 Win Mag, 155 Berger VLD, 3200 FPS. 5.5x22x56 NP-R2 glass.

The kills on Saturday, top picture in the morning and the other was taken late in the afternoon:

Why the 30 rounder on the truck gun? For the two legged Coyotes.

Just as I was leaving the property a Border Partrol trooper in his truck stop by to ask if I saw a group of 6 illegals. Apparently they have been chasing this group around and they believe the group crossed into the property I am hunting. BTW, the truck gun wears a Nikon 2.5x10x56 Monarch Gold and the 30 rounder is stuffed with 77 SMKs, military primed brass (crimped) and 25.2 grains of TAC

Nice shooting! Love that Density Altitude.

JBM needs to modify their density altitude card so it goes lower than -1000 feet. I make mine down to -4000.

Off the topic but would you mind sharing your reload data for your 300 win mag using the 155 VLDs with me? Why not the 168s or 175s?

I am not Lindy, but I will share my 155 VLD load. 76 grains of Reloader 22, match preppared (flash holes deburred, neck turned to clean up high spots, primer pockets uniformed) once fired brass from Federal Match ammo, full length resized, CCI 34 primers, loaded where the bullet body to the boat tail junction is slightly above the neck and shoulder junction of the case.

Why the Berger 155s and not 168 or 175s? I tested the 155s first and got a good accurate dependable load in the stable platform I have for a rifle, that using the 155 load I can hit within a minute from short to mid range every time I take it out for a test drive.

For what I do, I do not see the need to go the 168s or 175s, if I needed a higher BC slug I use the Berger 190 VLDs which I have them going at 3000 FPS and they are just as accurate as the 155s in my rig.

The 300 WM is plain fun to shoot. With the break, coupled with the weight of the rifle, and the tripod set up I can see the impact. In the case of the Coyote I saw paws pointing to the sky after impact, the 155 VLDs work. Pencil in and a tennis ball size hole on the exit.
