I'd start at 32.0 grains add half grain increments working up to the mid 2600's, then load 150 of them knowing that somewhere around 100-150rnds in you will likely gain velocity and what shot good before that may not shoot as good after the change. Some folks I know have been OOHing and AAHing about the mid to low 2700's but they are using N150.I should have my new 25x47 soon. Anyone have starting load with Varget and a 134eldm? Thanks
Berger 135 LRHT @ 2.805”, 39.0gr H4350 (various primers) = 2820-2850fps from 27” Brux 1:7.5tw. Still seeing linear velocity trends above that, so I’d consider it a mildly warm load. Been up to 2880, but don’t need to be there for this rifle. I am also using the Blackjack spec reamer with 0.131” FB, for reference.
Just ordered a 24” Fluted Sendero for NRL Hunter, and need to make PF with that so I will push a little harder to get to the 2820fps minimum needed. I want to run Alpha brass in this barrel, mainly to help keep it from being interchanged. Does anyone have any comparison between Alpha & Lapua brass (6.5x47L necked down)? I may try Varget for this purpose too, Im slightly compressed around 40gr, and may not have enough case capacity to meet PF with H4350.
My final load was 40.6 H4350 with a 133 Berger. Slightly compressed. Shot really well. 2840 FPS 24”.Looking for some recommendations on starting powder weights for the following:
25x47 Lapua, 24" barrel, 1:7.5 twist
135gr Berger LRHT
H4350
I'm looking to get around 2800fps.
Looking at previous posts, what I found was around 39.0gr H4350.
I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
Sweet.130 Freebore according to the print.
I'm seating them far enough into the case so that they reliably feed in my 2.8" magazines. I don't really chase the lands, I just find a load at a length that works and shoot it. This one is .5 moa for five shots.
Honestly this is a very forgiving bullet and cartridge combo. I've only shot the Bergers and 6.5x47 Lapua cases necked down. Every powder and primer combo I've tried has been accurate. I can't reliably shoot any better.
The .130-.135” FB reamers keep the Boat Tail junction ahead of the neck/shoulder junction in the case. Blackjack specifically designed the reamers that way. Manson, PTG, JGS, etc were all contracted to make reamers for them to distribute to gunsmiths and customers when the bullets went live. Just ask your reamer maker of choice for the latest blackjack spec reamer and you will be in business. The Blackjack Ace 131 XL was the longest .257 bullet of anything ever offered in this class and it cleared the N/S junction well before jam.Sweet
Are you basically seating the bearing surface at the neck shoulder junction?

What are these new bullets? I got a few of those CRB blanks and 500 Peterson cases in 6.5x47. still debating dies and reloading method. Put an interest pre-order in with ingenuity precision.Drank the koolaid and starting a new build, CRB barrel on order, Dies picked up on the PX. Im really interested to see if/when the new 138 atips become available if they are going to be worth the $$$. Ive seen the new "aeromatch" start to ship but Otherwise ill probably stock up on the 131smk.
That is nice. How full does the case get with that much vargay? My go to load is 36.4 gr varget with Alpha brass and 135gr hybrids. 2759 fps and SDs under 5. This is a ten shot group. I have shot several 3-4 shot groups with this load under .25”. It’s a little slow compared to what I see others posting but I am happy with the consistency.
I dunno if the chase of .33 to .34 or .35 is worth it? I know Sierra is now selling the 131ace directly as the 131 smk. It is not the best price, but.. I know those things shoot.View attachment 8546382
Don’t know anyone that has hands on but paper puts them above bergers….just curious if the extra $10-20 a box is gonna be worth it. But supposedly they are going to be bulk packaging as well to cut some costs as well.
I have been debating on reloading setup. Initially, I had thought to use a Harvey hand deprime. Mec press with a fl bushing die for sizing and an arbor press for seating. However... That is a lot of investment.Bought a used SAC x47 die but had full intentions of buying a redding type S for sizing. Also bought a LE Wilson arbor style seater die for 6.5x47.
How do you like the n150? I have been considering it. Which brand brass are you using and how much powder can you get into the case usably?@Fat Dark Earth That was shot numbers 31-61 through the barrel.
Jumping forward now
I took 33.0gr of n150 with the 135gr hybrids to a match last Sunday first pic was before the match minus the cold clean bore... second pic will be after 110 rnds were fired. Temperature from beginning to end was in increase of about 20 degrees. And the barrel had just under 180 rounds on it at the start of the day... also, this is with Virgin brass. So I expect sd to tighten up on the next firing.View attachment 8386048View attachment 8386049
I am liking them, with a healthy jump (.06 with my measurements), Varget, 2720fps. Silly small groups.. on par with the 135s.Anyone have experience / data with the Hornady 134gr ELD-M bullets? How well they perform, etc
Hell that was done for freeIt’s the good luck charm you paid to have have lasered on that barrel
Shoot them 600+ yet? Bc?Last of the 100 virgins minus the fouler.
