One question, Which one?
I have a savage i have been thinking of rebarreling. I was going to stick with the .223 but i thought of going this route so i can reach out farther. Plus i have 2 other .308 rifles. I know there are alot of fans of .260 on here so I thought i would run it by everyone.

It will be used for paper from 100-1000yds. I do handload also would not mind purchasing factory stuff, so which would be more convienient, accurate, and versitile?
Any imput is appreciated,

Thanks
Chris

hey chris,i have been thinking along the same lines except i was looking at the 65 creedmoor vs 65x47L.i was leaning towards the creedmoor because when i don't feel like handloading i could shoot the factory ammo.look forward to some of those exp. shooters helping out with comments

I would go with 6.5 creedmoor. My friend and I have taken it out on a good day to shoot 1 mile and it shot consistently. Hornady makes good and fairly cheap factory ammo for the 6.5CM (140gr A-Max). It is much easier to reload compared to a .308. The recoil is mild compared to .308, which makes it really fun to shoot.

Also, there are about 10+ of us here in Vegas that shoot the 6.5CM.

Yes i might rebarrel the .223, I almost got a .308 mgowen but decided to go with a different cal. I know i will have to change the bolt face and the mag components, but i figure ill hold on to the .223 stuff and ill have 2 cals.

Personally I like the .260. Brass is easy to get ( any .243, 7-08) Lapua is now making brass for it also. They is factory custom ammo available , [url=http://store.thehuntingshack.com/trophygold260remington130grvld.aspx]
As far as I can tell Hornady is the only one producing 6.5 cm ammo. I don't think the CM is a better round ballistically. All things being equal availability of quality brass sways in the .260 favor

At $39.28 a box where 6.5 Creedmoor ammo is about $23 and change a box. Yes Hornady is the only one making it now but it's very accurate and affordable.
