So I came across a sweet looking 280 Ackley... It ending up coming home with me. But now I run into the problem with expensive dies.

I really like neck sizing, so I was thinking of going with the Lee Collet 2 die combo. Im wondering if the bullet seater will work in the 280 AI or if I have to purchase another seater die?

Would the 280 Rem seating die work for the Ackley? I really like RCBS's competition seating die and would like to eventually upgrade to a precision seating die.

What are you 280 AI guys loading up with?

Thank you!

I'm using Hornady dies and Nosler brass in my Nosler Trophy Grade. Once I got past barrel break in, it's been shooting as advertised - around 3/4" of an inch with several loads, so I have no complaints.

Thanks for the good info.
Im thinking any 280 Rem neck sizer would work. Now Im really wondering if any 280 Rem bullet seating dies will work? or does the shoulder throw them off?
Thoughts?

With components both expensive as well as hard to find....WHY would you screw around trying to "make do" with standard .280 Rem dies when you NEED the .280 AI dies?

Seems like a waste of money to me.

I use the REDDING die set for my AI. works just fine.

All things Redding , regardless of cartridge , they're that good . Competition seating and competition bushing sizing is the way to go IMHO , I'm a little anal that way , I like to wring everything I can out of a rifle and if you don't have the best hand-loads possible you'll never realize the true potential of your rifle .

Call mike Bellm, he set my buddy up with dies, barrel, etc.
Lee doesn't make collet dies for the .280 AI, unless maybe they made you a custom one.
Anyway, this guy will take care of you, he is the authority on this round, IMO.

Click the "Home" link in my previous post to get to his web page. Feel free to pm me with any other questions, maybe I can help. My buddy is a .280AI fanatic.

The Redding dies maybe a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. As for powder Reloader 22 would be a good one to try, and by the way if your chamber is the original PO Ackley chamber you can't use the Nosler brass. Ther are differences in the Nosler chamber and the PO Ackley chamber.
