I have a Remington 30 AR Manufactured by DPMS for Remington. I always have a extra complete bolt assembly on hand for all of my AR15/AR10 rifles incase of a failure during hunting/target shooting. I called DPMS to purchase a extra bolt for the 30 AR and was told to contact Remington. So I called Remington and after being on hold for approx. ten minutes I was told I had to get it from DPMS as they do not carry any parts for the R-15 rifles. Anyone concerned about that? A second call to DPMS I was told that I could not buy a bolt from them I could only have it replaced by sending the rifle in for repair and or replacement. I asked again and the person became agitated and stated that was the only way! So for all you owners or potential owners of the 30 Remington AR don't waste your time calling them for replacement
bolt/carrier parts unless your rifle is damaged and or not functioning properly. I find this unbelievable as I build AR15/AR10 and have never heard anything like this before. So if you are planning a paid hunt with your 30 AR and have a bolt problem that requires only a simple bolt change you are out of luck because you will not be able to carry a spare complete bolt assembly with you for that occasional problem(extractor/ejector breakage). Had I have known this prior to spending over $1600.00 (trigger/Robar NP3 coated bolt/JP buffer) I would have looked elsewhere. All of my other nine AR15/AR10 rifles I built myself but never would have built one with a cartridge/rifle combination that I could not have a spare bolt assembly for. The only way I could have one with this cartridge was to buy it from Remington. Should have done more research. I will be pulling the barrel/carrier out and building one with what is left in a parts friendly chambering. So if you are considering buying the R-15 in 30 Remington AR you may want to look at a different rifle/cartridge combination.
