Just like to know what dies you guy are using. I have upper with a 1-6 twist coming next week. Looking to use it for hunting and subing long range for fun. I understand that the 300 can be l little hard to bump the very short shoulder. Just need some insight Thanks

I have the cheap hornady kit that I added a micromenter to, didn’t really help as the micrometer is still maxed out. The sizer is fine, the seater is crap for me. It’s a generic 30 cal seater and I only have like 1.5 threads of engagement in the lock ring while set up on my Co-Ax before it tries to crimp and smashes the shoulder in. Maybe in a more traditional press it would be better... but I’ve been watching for a Redding to go on sale.

What powder do you use?

I bought a set of RCBS AR series for dies. Have yet to use them. I plan on working on a hunting load with 110gr Barnes Tac-TX and everywhere I've seen recommended Lil Gun powder wise for that bullet.

I ise the hornady die set as well. Works just fine for everything i use my suppressed sbr for.. does everything from up close plinking to 400 yard steel shooting.

Running every thing same as spife 7980.
On a lee press.
Seems the hornady seater is very touchy on getting a crimp with 2.1 coal
For the 220g rnfb

Any input to setting the hornady seater would be apreceated, I want a small amount of crimp.

Been using Redding 30-221 deluxe Die set for long time, works great for all 3 cartridges, 30-221, .30 whisper and .30 BLK . Best crimper, is the Lee collet crimp Die for subsonic loads .
.

Thanks, have the lee fc die en rout, slow boat evidently.
I suppose I will have to check loads from the start since it will change pressure?

So I got the lee fcd, my 220 cfeblk loads tightened up over 3/8 inch first try.
Will soon test crimp amounts, have not figured out a way to measure it?

For Subsonic Crimp .. It does not take as much ( handle push weight ) as one would think with the Lee Collet crimp die . ( same as blk5.3 said above ) .. I also do crimp separate step after seating .

I have a heavy metal lever handle on the single press . take it easy at 1st . just do 'very light' press push on your lever, and it will crimp . You can also take a look at it next to a non-crimp seated bullet with magnifying glass to make a visual . Or just check with a kinetic puller, take a look at the bullet jacket after you pop it out of brass .
also Nice thing about the Lee Collet is that you can get good feel also for the Brass Necks when you get a odd one with slightly thin or thick wall on Neck of Brass .
