I have a 300 weatherby mark v that I would like to have some trigger work done on. I plan to have a gunsmith do any work. It is and always will be a hunting rifle but what might be some good options for improving the factory trigger? Open to replacement or working on original. About how much $$ to expect?

timney makes a trigger for your weatherby. I have one for my wby and it works great. if I remember correctly it was 140.00$. you will need to verify which version you have ,like American, japan or german. their number is 602-274-2999 they can walk you through how to identify which one you have. installation is very simple and if you order from them they will preset it for the # you want so you will not have to mess with it . hope this helps you.

I take the trigger housing apart, put it in the mill, add a trigger adjustment hole then open up the weight adjustment hole so the spring has full range of motion. Then I do the same thing to the over travel screw. Add a Remington 700 trigger return spring, clean up the sear/trigger engagements and reset them to 80 degrees. The whole process takes about one hour and makes the trigger brake like glass. Every Weatherby MkV that comes in the shop for a rebarrel leaves with the same set up. MUCH safer than the original Weatherby trigger at light pull weight.

Or you can buy a Timney and install it in five minutes. I came up with the trigger rebuild a while back when I tried to find a trigger for the MkV and couldn't.
