okay, im all saved up, and i have about $3000 to spend on a scope, I did my research and i think i want the 5-5x25x56 premiere heritage scope. am i going with the right scope?

take your $3000 budget and shove it up you A$$, just kidding, must be nice to have that kind of "budget" to throw down on some glass. We do however need more info, like what its going on and what intended purpose this rifle is going to have, etc.

You can find a practically new S&B and Premiers in the optics for sale section around the $2400 area fairly often and you can save some serious money shopping around. Also unless you just like high magnification or do benchrest style shooting, I suggest you stay away from anything higher than 17x, as mirage can be a beast during the summer months. Thats JMO, good luck with your purchase.

sorry for the lack of info. this scope will be going on stiller tac 30 .260. My purpose for this rifle would simply be a target shooter/benchrest. The farthest targets at the range i go to are 600 yards. I'm a novice to this sport, and i can't even hit 600 yard targets yet. however, i only like to buy things once and not upgrade later, this is why i wanted to get something i can grow into as i get better at shooting.

That scope will work great and allow you to grow. It will easily get you past 1000 yards and so will the .260. Now get it and go shoot.

I just purchased the same scope you are interested in, Gen 2XR reticle. Truely and awsome piece of glass. In my opinion, you won'e be wanting to upgrade anytime soon.

what contour barrel do you have? the reason im asking, im trying to figure out the height of the rings i need.

That's an awesome high-end scope you picked. For benchrest and target shooting, for 600 yds and beyond to limitation of 260rem, you will be good to go. The 56mm objective will allow for lower light condition shooting as well.

MTC, better knobs, better adjustment. Have the moa/moa option.
Im thinking ( dont know for certain) the new S&B with MTC will be more than PH equivalent scope.

For my eyes the S&B had superior clarity, brightness, etc. I've had both and prefer the S&B.
I did like the MTC knobs on the Premier though.

Better knobs and better adjustments are a personal observation as I think the exact opposite and I hate the MTC knobs.
Also S&B does have an MOA/MOA option now.

Better knobs and better adjustments are a personal observation as I think the exact opposite and I hate the MTC knobs.

For a rifle like that, I'd consider waiting until June/July for the Premier 3-15X50 Light Tactical. Sure, you have $3K but if you found a grand on the street wouldn't you be glad to have it? The LT will like come in around $2K since its sister scope - the Hunter - is around $1800. For any sub-1000-yard rifle that will be a better fit. And if you don't like that maybe S&B will actually have their 3-20 out by then.

Not sure if it has been menntioned yet, but have you considered the March tactical scopes yet? They have very wide magnification ranges, are light, compact and have very positives turrets. Just saying, new they are like $2400, might be worth looking into.

with a budget of $3k, you may very well be able to grab a nice used Hensoldt on here. after that I would say S&B/USO, or NF F1 MIL/MLR2. I would personally stay with the NF for durability reasons, but since you probably won't do anything like drop it 20 ft.... S&B/USO will work great

It was a tough choice between S&B, USO, Premier and Hensoldt. I will buy another high end scope next year. Probably a USO. I live in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia and USO scopes are made in Brea, California near my house. Its kind of nice feeling to know that you can get your high end scope fixed down the road at the factory without having to send it off to Germany for repair, but I wanted one German Scope and I opted for the Hensoldt.

i would go hensoldt or s&b, it's tough to beat that hensoldt nh1, i've had a few customers use that scope on 260 builds and they all seem to be very happy with the choice.

thanks for all of the advice, unfortunately, i dont know anyone with a hensholdt scope. however, i have shot a few behind a USO and Premiere before. Through my eyes the premiere showed a clearer pictures, and i think the knobs felt better in my hands. Also, with the new upgrades that comes with the new gen2 model i think it's makes it that much better. Im pretty set on the premiere. thanks for all of the advice tho.
