Join the contestI am loading 208 amax over RL-22 into FC brass. I have noticed that federal brass is heavier than others and I am assuming this means less volume inside. With a recent test I was loading per Hornadys data and getting velocities above what the book indicates. Worked up to the max load with this result.
72.4gr RL-22
215M
FC 07 Brass
208gr AMax
COL 3.43"
5 shot group with an avg velocity of 3059fps
Re: Loads for .300WM
300WM Rem 700P factory tube setback to +.012 from zero headspace on shoulder. ***Work up to these loads as no load will shoot the same pressures in different chamber/bore!
Both these are .5 moa loads in my rifle.
SMK 220 grain 2925ish fps
Win Case
73.0 gr RL25
215M primer
Fed GMM clone load
SMK 190 gr
Win case

On this second load is this what you have tested in your rifle to be best load with 190 SMK? I am still experimenting with powder amounts and just curious about others success and other general safety consideration that I should be making just getting into hand loading
Anybody shooting the 208 gr. Eld-m? Planning to load them in win brass over h1000.

Any suggestions for a "novice" for a Bartlein 28" 1:11.25, using 178 ELD-X or 180 Bergers, nosler brass or norma?
I'm looking for max fps, and long range shooting.
Great info. It is interesting that it took an additional 0.2 grain of powder with the 208s vs an additional 0.6 grains with the 215s to maintain the same velocity between virgin and the once fired brass.Rifle:

These loads hold .5 MOA or better out to 1,500 yards with no more than 3” of vertical dispersion. They are also located in the center of a .7 grain wide velocity flat spot.
The 208 eld-m out performs the 215 Hybrid in every way from this rifle so I’ve made the switch. I have also found this to be true with the 225 eld-m vs 230 Berger OTM Tactical out of a 26” 1-9 gain twist Bartlien 300wm built on a Deviant.
*3.560” coal is the longest I have found to not damage the meplat under recoil in my AICS magazines.
*All of these loads show slight signs of pressure at .6 grains above these charge weights and are temperature stabile from 90°F down to 30°F.
I have a 300 WSM and am thinking about loading some 200g ELD-X. Rifle is a Rem 700 with stock action. I know some calibers have COAL issues with some of the recent longer bullets. Am I likely to run into this in 300 WSM?
Thanks in advance

Yes, the long bullets won’t be seated optimally. The short mags really come into their own when they can be seated out in a medium or long action. I’ve realized this myself with a 7 SAUM.
That being said, I am putting together a multi-barrel short action hunter for 223, 6.5, and 300 WSM. While I know the 300 wsm will be a bit held back, I’d love to see how much ground can be made back up with R26?? If you can get it over 2800 in a 22-24” barrel, then I think it will really perform.
Anyone using R26 in short action 300 wsm?
