Howdy all,

I had an old 11 twist barrel that i was going to give these a try in. I gave up on that barrel and sent it back... 1st time i have ever done that, and hopefully the last time.

In an extreme effort to get it right this go around i ordered a Kreiger barrel with a 1:12 twist for my AR-308.

It arrived today, and i was measuring bullet lengths, and distance to the lands on all of the bullets that i have on hand.

Going off memory (DON'T TRUST) the 175 grain SMK's are around 1.245 or so, and the new 169's are a touch over 1.3.

I think it will be close? But could work?

Not sure is a ton of info to be definitive on that. Some 1:12 shoot 175's just fine others hate them.

Here is a thread with results out of an original 1:12 AI barrel:

1-10 or 11 would theoretically be better, but how far you shooting? 1-12 might be just fine, but hard telling not knowing until you shoot em.

I shoot them in a 13 twist 30-06 at around 2840 FPS. DA around here can be as low as -1800 and I’ve had no problems whatsoever. Haven’t had them thru transonic but they stabilize fine. Give them a go if you can get your hands on some
