Guys,

I just ran across some 308/7.62 that has GGG 04 on the headstamp, not that much, like 35+ so. Any info or opinions? I'll probable scrap it, but just wondering.

I have also been running across both pistol and rifle brass that has CBC on the headstamp, any ideas on the company, or quality. I have excatly 50 in 308, and will use for case trimmer set up and such. I do run into a bunch of pistol brass with this headstamp. Just wondering....

Thanks, JPG

CBC = Magtech as its known in the States...

CBC - Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos aka the Brazilian Cartridge Company

CBC pistol brass i come across i just throw in with my other mixed headstamp blasting ammo. Seems to hold up just fine.

I have several hundred CBC cases for 44 mag and they run through my revolver just like everything else. They reload just fine.

I have a handful of pieces for 308 that are earmarked to go to a buddy of mine. I prepped them and sized them. They didn't show any problems there, I turned the necks on 2 of them just to see and it was on par with LC brass.

It'll make good blammo

Re: 308 Win Brass (GGG) & (CBC)

Hello all,

New member here somewhat new to reloading but not new to shooting...
I too have some of these brass that I picked up from my local gun range. I loaded them and now they will not chamber... Some seem not to have been trimmed and these I can understand as to why, but many where trimmed down to 1.996" (Case OAL is supposed to be 2.005") all other specs from Lymans reloading manual indicates that the case is OK... Any ideas as to why? Anyone run into this same scenario? TIA

Perhaps they were once fired in a large chamber, such as a machine gun, and were insufficiently resized prior to being excessively trimmed! Or perhaps your rifle's chamber is particularly snug.

Do they fit into a case guage?

Re: 308 Win Brass (GGG) & (CBC)

The Lithuanian NATO (GGG) is not just good but great brass. I would swear it was made by Lapua or Lapua at least set up their plant. Necks annealed, very uniform in weight, slightly smaller internal capacity than Lake City, and capable of extraordinary accuracy once you take the crimp out of the primer pocket. In fact, the NATO load itself is the most accurate military ball I have seen in a very long time.
Best,
James

What you are saying makes since, the only problem is that where I shoot is at the Sheriffs training facility and we are not allowed to shoot FA weapons... I unfortunately do not have a case gauge, but do have a digital caliper. This weekend I'll be heading to a friends house to do some investigation on this issue, I'll post my results.. Thanks again guys....

Re: 308 Win Brass (GGG) & (CBC)

Well I finally got around to check this brass, we measured the entire case and came up with a theory, that whoever shot these cases has a chamber problem and the case swelled up bad, at the end of the neck

I think you get the idea, the diameter was off by .012. I had to toss all of the GGG brass

Thank you all for your help and suggestions...........

I would think a full length resizing die would take care of that.

The die only re-sizes the neck not the shoulder... I also sorted more brass today and have about 300 cases of DFI that do the same thing and will have to trash those as well..
