Suppressors 30cal QD suppressor

Hello all,

I am fairly new to the suppressor world, I bought my first back in October 2013(still waiting for approval). Anyways, I am looking around for a good 30cal can. I would like it to have the quick detach feature as I would like to swap it between rifles. I would also like it to be able to attach to a compensator. I know surefire has this - SOCOM model, is the muzzle break any good - I think they run 150 each. It will be used on a Rem 700 308, S&W M&P15 223, and eventually if I ever buy one a 300 win mag bolt rifle. Is this a good option for me? Are there any other brands that do this? I want to be able to switch the can between the different rifles without having to thread and unthread this. All my rifles have compensators on them, PA M41 on the 308 and a AR stoner competition on the AR15, my wife never liked the thump of the 308 or even the AR but ever since I put those on she actually enjoys shooting with me(or at least she say's she does) so I would like to keep them close to the same if I can. Or should I just deal with threading and unthreading muzzle devices? Any advice is appreciated.

you can check out the Gemtech Quicksand. I have one with the brake mount. my buddy has the HVT if you are not looking for Titanium. alittle heavier but they both suppress well on both 223 and 308.

also .30 cal specwar may be something to look at. i have a 5.56 specwar now and i think they offer different mounts as well.

there are many different manufacturers with qd mounts.

i really like the yhm phantom qd. i have the 5.56 version and am now looking at the 7.62 version.

I have the YHM Phantom 7.62 Titanium QD and like it real well. I use it mostly on my AR-15s, but also and my Savage 10 308. I have not tried their muzzle brake, although I have ordered one. I also have a Thunderbeast 30P-1, it is screw-on type, but it is awesome. I honestly will say though that between it and the YHM, I don't see a huge amount of difference. I do, however, only shoot my Thunderbeast on my long range guns, where it excels. I know they have a brake-attach version that has gotten good reviews, but I have not used it.

Have a bunch of 762 cans from different companies. If i had to do it all over again this is what i would have settled on instead of buying them like legos and GI-Joes.
1. AAC element - 22 can, take apart, quiet, and great support (done deal)
2. AAC Tyrant 45 short - best all around pistol/subgun can.
3. KAC QDSS 556 - I cant blow this thing up. Great all around 556 can for plinking, FA, etc.
4. Surefire 762 can (pick one) for 308 semi and 700 bolt guns. New line not the old line, welds looked like shit.
5. AAC Titan QD - precision shooting can, no 52 tooth issues. Super quiet, light, and accurate.

Yhm 762ss qd was my first can. I beat the shit out of this can and it still works great. Baffles are a little strange in my opinion. Unit rusts a little but the dip, sand blast, and oil fixes that. Lock up is great. Accuracy im on the fence still, too much weight on the end of the barrel sometimes. Great on a 762 sbr or battle rifle though. Also have some erosion on the first baffle after the blast baffle. But some of my AAC cans have done the same thing. The AAC mount wobble issue for 52tooth bothers me sometimes but hasnt been an accuracy issue. It helps with can removal and as long as you dont clean the crud off your brake it is a non issue. Surefire makes a great product and shift is not an issue. Cash is king. 2nd and 3rd party companies are great and if your going with only one rifle can in 762 should be fine. I beat the shit out of my stuff and break them regularly. I require a quick turn around and no bull shit product stance. I have had some issues with small companies in the past but my uses might be different from yours. Above all, buy what makes you happy and go to a silencer shoot to try everything before you buy. First thing to do is make a list of your priorities in a suppressor.

Rank the following by value. (Below is my ranking from most to least important).

-Mount/locking mechsnism
-POI shift
-Accuracy
-Blowback on semiautomatic weapons
-Signature (flash etc.)
-Durability
-Customer service/support
-Weight
-db reduction
-Price
-If the cool kids are running these

With all that being listed I went with Surefire. It arguably has the best QD mounting system of any of the big name companys, the least POI shift in a qd ststem, durable enough for the military (rated for 300 WM), has good accuracy and their customer service has been really great the last couple of years.

The cons: they are not the quietest, and their price is more expensive than budget model cans.


Regarding their brakes: they are pretty effective (my SR25 barely moves when the brake is attached, and the mounts are 115-130 if you shop around.

My top 3 choices to look at for a qd can to be used hard:

1. Surefire SOCOM762-RC
2. Silencerco Saker
3. Silencerco Specwar


If you are not going to be shooting fast and on a lot of 5.56 than go titanium:

1. Thunderbeast 30CB7 or 30CB9.

I have supressor needs similar to yours. I ended up purchasing the specwar762. The only negative I've read about it is that it's heavy.

Thanks for the advice so far. I am leaning to the SpecWar 762, weight is not a concern it is mainly for my long range rifles. Plus it is in stock at my dealer. Now all I need to do is sell my desert eagle and I can buy it

I have an SDN-6, and while there is much complaining an gnashing of teeth regarding the 52-tooth mounts, it's relatively easy to work the mounts to fit the can (note that I recognize that this shouldn't be necessary). Once the can is securely mounted, the sound suppression is fantastic.

If I were to purchase a QD 30-cal can today, it'd likely be the 7.62 Saker...

do you notice any difference in accuracy and poi shift between the 2. i am looking at these 2 now
