Rifle Scopes .338 Lapua scope Leupy Mark 4 8.5-25x50m1 ill tmr?

I suppose I'm one of the guys flooding the board with .338 Lapua questions after SnipercountryPX's run on Remmy 700s.

I'm wondering if that would be overkill? Is there any other scopes I should be looking at in that price range? I'm going to try use the full potential of this rifle. My max budget is around $1500.

For just a few bucks more you could get a Nightforce 5.5x22x50MM. I have considerably more faith in the long term durability of Nightforce products, than anything turned out lately by the boys in Beaverton.

Does that have a illuminated reticle? Which ret do you recommend for this caliber? By going with the MM does that mean I need a FFP version?

I'm still trying to understand the mil/mil system and what increments the value(of the clicks) increases in at further distances. Does anyone have a link to information explaining how to use the mil/mil system? I'm to the point now where I'm GTG with MOA but am finding the MM to be more efficient.
