Hey all, just bought an Athlon ares from the px, now I need rings. I’m looking for a 1 piece scope mount for a 34mm tube for under $125-$150 bucks. Any of the bigger names to stay away from? I’ve heard some mixed reviews on some of the leupold mounts. I’ve always bought $50 dollar rings because I never had an optic worth spending more money on. Any help would be appreciated.

You want zero cant or a mount with cant?
They're tough to come by. Avoid split rings vertically on precision rifles....and probably QD feature too. Frank posted about issues with those features on precision rifles...and I put stock in his recommendations. I can't justify the cost of a Sphur mount or however the f you spell it. I like the Geissele and JP Mounts....Nightforce, Seekins and Badger would be great choices too. For some reason, I just dislike the look of the Vortex and Warne mounts....so those are off my list.

I’m not too fond of QD bases on any platform, let alone a precision rifle. I have dedicated optics for dedicated rifles, no need to switch them on and off. I’d want a 20 moa base I think. Most of my shooting will be sub 600 yards but occasionally I’d be out to 1000+. Not a fan of the Warne mounts either... Trying to find a decent looking mount that isn’t $350 is tough! I’ll keep an eye on the px. See if I can’t find a used NF mount or seekins... it just seems like mounts that were $150 5 months ago are now $250...
