As it says. I went out and shot a .375 grouping at 200 yards. I'm not looking for praise or anything just wondering how I am standing with shooting. It was my first time shooting over 100 yards. Finally got my trigger adjusted, and scope mounted correctly. I was shooting my Rem 700P and also wondering if anyone has had a lot better groupings with this type of rifle. Nothing has been changed on it other than the trigger. Comments please. No pic, because my phone won't send it to my computer over bluetooth.. dumb I know that's how old school my phone is.

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

I have not been doing the long range thing for long, but I have been shooting bolt guns for over 20 years. That is a outstanding group at 200. I have a 700P in 300WM, and it is holding about .6 @ 100 with 208 Amax's. Took a doe antelope in WY last year at about 550yds. Just picked up my custom 260 and have one accuracy load with 142SMK's that was .25MOA @ 100, but the velocities are a little low for hunting. You should shoot some 600yd f-class with that gun! The xring is 3", you would be good to go with it.

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

The first question most would want to know is how many shots are we talking about that comprised the good group. As for the rifle capablitys, yes a stock remmy can and has done that well and better. Most will not but some will. Good shooting on your part to sure didn't hurt.

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

I read the rules of SniperHide's and it was a 5 shot group. Also how far of a drop do you guys normally have at 200 yards with a 308? I think mine was about 4-5"

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

Depends on the bullet and how fast you're shooting it and what you are referencing it to - a 4" drop from the muzzle or from a 100 yard zero?
keep shooting. A one time sub1/2 MOA group has probably been attained by all of us. Doing it consistently is the real challenge...

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

Yes it would be from a 100 yard zero, and yeah I was more less wondering if the rifle I have is capable of shooting better groups than that. It is and I will have to work on getting it better. Thanks.

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

That's terrible, don't you know that everybody on here can put them all in the same hole at that distance

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

The question is do think its acceptable? What are you setting out to achieve?

Whatever the load you shot today get plenty in and go and shoot at different distances, positions, different weather conditions etc. Find some comps to take part in to rate your standard against peers.

Just out of interest did you shoot off a bench or prone with bi-pod. How were your other groups at 200 yards (or how do you generally go on at 100?)

20 questions I know but just curious. Good shooting BTW

Re: .375 MOA grouping good?

Well I was wondering what I could do for a 5 shot grouping at 200 yards. I've never really shot 200 yards other than playing around shooting at stuff. I understand that this could be a once in a lifetime grouping and I hope not. I will keep you posted if it was.

I was shooting off a bench, but I hate sitting on a bench I'd rather be prone. I used a bipod and tac balls to shoot off the bench.

For ammo it was Fed 168gr match. I want to start reloading though to cut down cost factor.
