Rifle Scopes 50% off a Minox scope with purchase of a M18 rifle at EO

I thought someone said the 50% off coupon wasn't even supposed to be for the ZP5 line, but Minox stood true and allowed it? Additionally, to the folks paying retail for these optics, it might do y'all some good to call the vendors on this site. I bought a Minox August of 18' from a Hide vendor and paid $500-ish less than MSRP. That puts the initial purchase price at @ $2750, so used values of your $3200 scope were already in the $2400 range. As fickle as the market is these days with everyone wanting the latest and greatest no one should really have the expectation of things in this industry holding their value.

I can sympathize with the fact you lost value.

But I would never have made the jump to "alpha" glass with out this minox sale.

I never saw the value. In a 2 mi. Look through someones scope on the range I was always thing... meh I'm fine.

The Minox deal changed that. It lowered the price point to a level that i was willing to spend. Now having alpha glass, I get it. I see the value of that extra $1500 over what I was using before.

It has made a convert out of me.

Also.... my second one just got delivered, like just this second. Got to go!

I'm in the same boat. I wouldn't have been able to spring for alpha glass. It also got a buddy into a rifle for cheap who otherwise wouldn't be out shooting. So it was a win-win for my situation.

So one of my ZP5s had an issue with the reticle shifting POA when zooming in/out near the top of the mag range, so I emailed customer service and they said to send it in. I mailed the scope off a few Fridays ago, and I had a brand new replacement by the following Friday. I don’t know if this is typical or not, but IMO it doesn’t get much better than that.

Who did you speak to if you don't mind? The person I spoke with (don't recall name) told me to send in my scope but it would be sent to Germany where they would open the scope up and inspect prisms, lenses, etc. They quoted me weeks as a turnaround time.

Austin is the guy that helped me. Maybe they just happened to have an extra one ready to go, I’m not sure.

Yours still has a parallax issue?

Yeah it still does. I had said I would send it in after hunting season was over. Well, it's over now. I just need to get off my rear end and actually do it now. I'll call them up and get their return info.

It’s pretty painless. Just send it off and don’t think about it lol.

I actually just had a Schmidt & Bender repaired, took a few weeks but it’s good as new. All of the top tier scope companies are going to take care of you.

Oh I don't doubt it at all. I've had to send in for warranty a Bushnell LRHS and a Sig Tango6. Both took forever with the turnaround but i didn't mind it. I've just been lazy hahaha...

I’m still waiting on mine to ship, haven’t got a call for payment.

I talked to Yim a few weeks ago and she said they always have a couple extra for warranty situations like that.

Just unboxed. It was on the second rev in the box. Being totally new to these I had a little crash course in the zero stop to figure out how to get it in the middle of travel so I had the full 28ish mils of up. Turrets feel nice and line up correctly.

Both of mine came set on the second rev as well.

Agreed. The first one I got was in the 2nd rev and wouldn’t turn down lower so I had to take the turret off and after messing with it for a while I got it to go back past it and then the indicator would show. I don’t know exactly why it was like that.

when yours came from the factory could you just turn it down into the first rev or was the zero stop set? I bought my first used off the hide and new one will come from
Blaser directly.

Mine arrives on Wednesday, my first “alpha” class scope. Might drop it in the RRS mount to complete the package. On another note, every manufacturer in this industry needs a Yim working for them. Her communication skills are on point and she has been awesome to work with. After navigating the murky and unpredictable waters of the Burris Sea of Despair it was refreshing to deal with some really good customer service.

I had to loosen the turrets and basically reset the zero stop.

Yim is amazing. One of the best customer service folks I've dealt with, period.

Mine arrived Tuesday. What a great scope. Now I am mulling over what mounts to use. Go spuhr or Ashbury precision like the rest of the rifle. Decisions decision. And Yim is awesome. You don’t run across folks like that often.

I went with the really right stuff mount. Nice mount, and Made in the USA!

If you're wanting a mount, don't overlook Aadmount as well - for simplicity I also like the ARC M10 QD-L's

Had a chance to look through this scope for a while today. I know there have been a bunch of reviews and comments regarding the image quality and optical clarity...they are right on. Wow. The detail you can pick up through this scope and just the overall quality in the image is pretty amazing to my eye. The turrets on mine are really good too. Ultra tactile, stiff (but not too stiff), and just good. It's about as big as a Louisville Slugger, but if size is a non issue, I can't see where you'd go wrong with one of these.

I guess it just goes to show you how subjective glass can be. I had it next to a brand new XTR3 and to my eye the XTR3 is not even close in clarity. I also have a Cronus, Trijicon, AMG, and to me the Minox is head and shoulders above those scopes. To each their own I suppose. Tons of choices in scopes these days, I feel well bought with this one.

Usually these optics ship with the zero stop at the bottom of the erector and it dialed up to just say 14 mils to center it. This allows full travel to zero your scope with any MOA base or mount (20,30,40moa etc.) Pretty common. The TT I just got was the same. The ZCOs came like that. Makes it easy to get right to shooting and only have to loosen the set screws one time for zero.

Setting up the diopter properly was key to getting a clear quality image. @wjm308 and I had a brand new 3-15 out and thought something was wrong with the scope right away. Adjusted the diopter properly and got it dialed in, and the thing was money.

Yim said progress on the 3-15s and should be coming shortly. Scopes are done but something with the paperwork involved to get them here.

Yes it is WAY above those other scopes. But that is comparing to those other scopes.

My case is comparing same scope, same ret., same white box. VASTLY different. That's QC.

I agree there seems to be more variation with minox than some others, but I think part of why grading glass seems to be so subjective in general is due to this variation with all scope manufacturers to some degree.

Yes, the diopter setting for my TT and my Minox ZP5 (original) did correct image parallax and sharpness (along with the correct parallax setting) but this Minox that I have now - nothing can remedy it - its a dud. A lemon.

So the question is - is this a one off scope issue - or did a batch get like this - or does the final QC guy post his junk on twitter while testing the scopes out before they ship to the world.

That stinks. Hope it all gets sorted out. Been in your shoes with different optics in the past and hate having that sour taste in your mouth getting a dud.

Replacement actually focuses now.

Does the diopter locking ring actually lock the dipoter focus ring or does it just give it more resistance so it turns with more force?

Never fully "locks" just increases resistance. I just snug it up and they never move on me. If you are trying to force it you can get it to move. Depends how tight you crank on the "locking" ring.
