I know that the correct spelling is "CREEDMOOR". Apparently, my gunsmith did not.

This is from a very reputable shop and they are fixing it, so I don't want to out them. I'm sure they were embarrassed. Good help is hard to find...

DOH!!! Still, could have been worse...could have been "GREED-MORE." I know a shop or two that I'd have kept it JUST LIKE THAT just for posterity sake and future laughs! ;)

Glad its getting sorted out. As always, mistakes happen and its not so much in the happening itself, but in how the mistake is dealt with that tells the tale in the end. I'm sure it'll get squared away and that's not a mistake they'll likely be making again soon (hopefully)!

Although I'm admitedly a little more uptight than most folks, I did find the error funny.

Reminds me of the 6.5 Gendel I built several years ago...missed placing an 'R' in the pantograph and just fired her up and engraved an upper...I kept that receiver for myself and later after building that one a friend wanted it even with the mis-spell...

He's not the only one that it's happened to. It's an honest mistake, and really not a big deal if everything else is as it should be. Same happened to me, and here's what happened. I use stencile's with an etching machine. I placed the order for the Creedmoor caliber verbally over the phone. The day I got it I was in a hurry to mark the barrel. All I noticed was the beginning, "Creed". I never caught it, but the customer did. After he shot it, he could care less what it said on the barrel. We are human, and do make mistakes. Admitting it and willing to correct them makes us better than those who try to deny and hide them. Looks like your smith is a good one, and I wouldn't think any less of him if you had posted his name. Especially after he said he would fix it.

I don't care if my rifle says "I love to ride the bologna pony" ...if it shoots like many of your rifles do, I'd be happy :)

Just tried my first hand loads with the new barrel. Three different combinations worked great. Guess it is not too picky.
