My current semiauto "precision" rifle is a NM M1A. As I have said in another post below, I am leaning toward removing the optic and using it as an open-sight gun. I am also planning to have a 7WSM built on a Bighorn action, so I will be covered for a "magnum" bolt gun. I am reading a ton of good things about both the 6.5 Creedmoor and the .260, but I am inclined to go with the Creedmoor.

I would love to have another scoped semiauto and the 6.5 POF group buy seems like a great gun. The other 6.5s on the market have 24-26" barrels, which makes them two pounds heavier, but I like the idea of having a 20" barrel. The question is whether the loss in barrel length will undermine a lot of the advantages a 6.5 has over the .308 and whether going to an auto over a bolt gun will diminish accuracy significantly compared to a bolt gun in 6.5.

So, my options for a 6.5 are the lighter POf piston rifle, the heavier and longer DPMS gas rifle, or a custom gas rifle from GA Precision or another maker. In truth, my preference would be for a medium-countoured 22-24" barrel, but I don't think that is an option on a factory gun.
