I'd be curious to see what you think about the x2 muzzle device vs the efab.
I haven't found anything that comes close to the EFAB performance, especially on 14.5" and under barrels.

Did X2 agree to send you a barrel for review?

I'd love to see a light to medium weight barrel head to head between V7, X2 and JPSo I spoke with X2 about what I'd like to do on here for a barrel review, hopefully they'll reach out again and we can get something going.

That is excellent news! I wasn't sure if it was going to happen the way your post sounded. Curious to hear what you think of the muzzle device as well.Looks like you're getting your wish, X2 Dev Group reached out today, they're sending me a 14.5" Barrel, Gas System and their Muzzle Brake.
So after my initial evaluation I'll compare it against the new 14.5" Geissele, 14.5" V Seven

They were just waiting for your background check to come back![]()
From everything I’m seeing, the X2 Dev Group receiver sets and handguard appear to be pretty cutting edge. I really like what they’re doing with the handguard mate, the aesthetics and ergos:Looks like you're getting your wish, X2 Dev Group reached out today, they're sending me a 14.5" Barrel, Gas System and their Muzzle Brake.

Small arms solutions gave a good review of the rifle but he doesn't really do accuracy testing. Handguard certainly looks like a solid designThey seem like good people, just busy like all the rest us trying to keep the lights on. 2x Dev Group is Idaho based so I look forward to working with home state companies.

According to X2 Dev Group, Trident barrels, guaranteed Sub-MOA with quality ammunition, exhibit extreme rigidity ensuring consistency and minimizing POI shift when mounting suppressors. This is due to specially timed flutes that act as opposing I-beams, providing structural integrity with reduced mass to maintain optimal barrel harmonics. Keeping all the performance of a 416R Stainless barrel, this design sees weight fall under that of leading carbon fiber barrels. Trident barrels are nitrided, impregnating the steel unlike coatings, for corrosion resistance and improved barrel life.
X2 Dev Group makes all Trident barrels in-house, optimizing the heat profile for consistent group dispersion through 473 degrees Fahrenheit, distributing the heat evenly to reduce heat soak and stress, which, combined with added rigidity, enhances POI predictability through longer strings of fire.
Trident barrels use a .750” journal and are available on X2 Dev Group’s website with a low-profile fixed gas block, a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block, or ready to accept the gas block of your choice. All Trident barrels feature M4 Feed Ramps, a 1/2x28 threaded muzzle, and are chambered in .223 Wylde with a 1:8 twist rate.
Barrel and weight information is as follows:
16” - Mid Length Gas - 21.5oz
14.5”- Mid Length Gas - 20.0oz
12.5” - Carbine Length Gas - 17.8oz
The X2 Barrel arrived Today, this will be the last update on this thread. I'll start a new thread dedicated for the X2 Barrel.

Can you confirm if these barrels are using 3 groove rifling? I watched a Small Arms Solutions video about the X2 Lightfighter rifle and he mentioned that the barrels are 3R but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere else and the X2 website says nothing about what the rifling type is.

That's a cool looking barrel, but I can't understand why all these manufacturers that talk like they're on the cutting edge are still doing MLGS 16" barrels. The X2 Barrel arrived Today, this will be the last update on this thread. I'll start a new thread dedicated for the X2 Barrel.

The rarity of intermediate gas 16” barrels is pretty frustrating. It must be because they don’t think intermediate gas barrels will sell as well. Craddock told me they think intermediate gas is best for 16” but their off the shelf Signature Bartlein is only offered in midlength gas. I feel the same way about 5/8x24 threads on small frame AR barrels. They are better than 1/2x28 but hardly anyone uses them.
I'm not sure why there are so many ILGS with the port location 1/8" different from the last guys..It would be nice if there was an industry standard intermediate length gas systems.
Hey Jake what about the Q sugar weasel in 5.56? Has a match grade barrel
@Bigjake83 - Sorry if I missed it but did you ever post updates on your experiences with the V Seven and X2 Dev Group barrels?
And as for the X2 Dev Group Barrel, it's not good....
At all !!!........
Just need some quality Egyptian ammo to make it shine
What's your thoughts on X2 muzzle device ?
So V7 and JP seem to be some of the best bets for lightweight barrels?
I'll get into the X2 info maybe next week, want to give them one last chance to commit.
After my initial evaluation and talking with them about their product it's been complete radio silence, I've left at least five voicemails and sent two emails and haven't heard a single word.
Geissele, V Seven, JP are all great lightweight options.
Bummer about the X2 barrel. The crazy thing is that they wanted $700 when they first announced them.
Actually yes, they're mid pack in terms of accuracy (.75-ish MOA) as a complete rifle.Jake have you tested a ADM rifle yet?
Stoeger had one for testing said people liked the recoil impulse and was very reliable. Around 15k on the rifleActually yes, they're mid pack in terms of accuracy (.75-ish MOA) as a complete rifle.
I love thier Ambi lowers, but the upper is nothing to write home to mom about and thier handguards look to be made by SLR, lightweight but not Geissele or SOLGW rigid.
Any further word from X2 Dev Group?
Would sure like it if they would communicate to me about a barrel shipped back to them several weeks ago.
