I've been working on loads for my GAP 6.5 CM using the 140 VLDs, 140 Hybrids and 130 VLDs. Barrel is a 27" Bartlein 8.5 twist. I used Aimsmall's loads as a starting point and I have to say they ran pretty well. I was also waiting on my modified case to and 6.5 comparator to get here so I could check my chamber. FWIW, I run the CCI 200 primers as that is what I have. They work well in the 308 loads I shoot. I have plenty of them in my stock, so making a switch to Fed 210s would not be easy. (Where can you get Fed 210s anyway.)
Here is the load data:
140 VLDs
42.5 H4350
CCI 200
OAL 2.810, comparator 2.150, .060" jump
2816 fps, 8.1 mil to 1K
140 Hybrids
42.5 H4350
CCI 200
2.140 on comparator, .082" jump
2806 fps, 8.1 mil to 1K
130 VLD
44.0 H4350
CCI 200
2.810 OAL, jump ???
2930 fps, 7.8 mil to 1K
I checked my chamber using the modified case and the 6.5 comparator and here is what I got for the 3 bullets:
140 VLD: 2.210" to lands
140 HyBrid: 2.222" to lands
130 VLD: 2.190" to lands
FWIW, the Hornaday Factory 140 AMax shoots at 2850 out of my rifle and is 8.2 mil to 1K
I have some 140 VLS loaded in .1gr increments from 42.5 to 43.1 to see if I can get a little more velocity out of the load, but, more importantly, see if I can find an accuracy node. Looking at Aimsmall's data it looks like the CCI 200s are about 35 fps slower than Fed 210s with the same load. I'm hoping I can do this on the 600 yard range at Peacemaker with the electronic target system. Will let you guys know how it turns out.
