For all you guys with a Creedmor, is any one as amazed with the performance as I am? I just nonchalantly loaded up 10 rounds 140 vld, 42.4 h4350. Shot 7 times at 120 yards and there were 2 holes touching. My chrony gave me 2796 fps avg at 10 ft. Truly an awsome cartridge

Did you shoot to distance the other day?

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

After I shot my 6.5CM for the first time I called up the 'smith that I borrowed the reamer from and told him "I'll just send you a check, I'm keeping the reamer"

I'm about halfway through my second barrel, I have not done anything other than load ammo and shoot it. It just continues to impress, so much that I have several other very good rifles that are collecting dust.

What kind of barrel life you getting???

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

I didn't know I could shoot that well until a friend of mine let me shoot his. I shot 3, 3 shot groups between 2" and 3.5" at 7, 8 and 900 yards with factory Hornady ammo. I was tickled to say the least.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

I'm building one -

Rem 700 action
Southern Precision bbl
Timney trigger
XLR chassis
Leupy 6.5-20 MK4 ER/T glass

Can't wait!

FINALLY Back into the bolt gun world.

The last one was good for ~4600, I pulled it a little early it probably still had another 500-1k in it but I wasn't going to get through the season with that tube.

Standard Hornady-spec 6.5CM made by PTG, no changes. The specs aren't printed on the reamer, I seem to remember something about the FB length being ~0.140" but you should probably call PTG and confirm it.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

Having one built by Charley Robertson at Score High in ABQ. Hope to have it by April and can't wait to shoot it.

Rem 700 SA
Brux 26" fluted Light 16 Palma Contour
Jewel Trigger
McMillan A3 Stock
Badger knob

Will be topped with a NF NXS 5.5x22x50 MOAR and NF rings and bases.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

Southern Precision Rifles has built 6 Creedmoor rifles with Brux barrels for my friends, all shoot extremely accurate. Sold on Creedmoor and it's ability for long range.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

I loved the AR-10 I built in 6.5 creedmoor so much I just finshed a full custom bolt gun in it load testing should be starting any day now lol.

Very similar ballistically, both VERY accurate rounds. My 6.5 X 47 was a quarter inch gun with everything run through it and had one 5 shot group in the zeros and a few in the 1s with 130 VLDs off the bench and buddies of mine that shoot custom Creedmoors tell me the same thing. The reason I went with the 47 was I wanted to shoot Lapua brass but they say the Hornady brass for the Creedmoor is pretty good. If you reload either would be a good choice. If you wanna shoot very good factory ammo go with the Creedmoor. Just my .02

I know what you mean. I am just getting started in f/tr matches but the creedmor shoots so damned good I'm thinking about just sticking with it in f open. The guys at Palo Alto are so damned good in F/tr they make their .308's shoot like miniature .300 win mags. My buddy Jade is pushing the 200 Berger hybrid 2750. How in the hell can I compete with a Crusader chambered for 175 smks....

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

I am really enjoying my 6.5 Creedmoor I show it over 800yds the other day with some wind it was doing great. Had a few good groups with factory ammo. I just got my Dies the other day and reloaded 100 rounds of 140gr AMax's. This should do the trick. My stock is getting cut for CDI bottom metal and the rifle should be ready to send em.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

Yeah.... My buddy (member) Tackleberry was pinging steel at 1200 yards the other day. That was with factory amax! He said he only needed 43 moa to hit. Running about 2820. He and I have the same rifle but mine is a Crusader and his Ga P is customized a little more. They are both brand new so I figured that GA used the same reamer. Gave him a few of my hand loaded 140 vlds and he shot a 5 shot group at 500 yards you could cover up with a spray paint can ....easily.

Re: 6.5 creedmor. Does it get any better?!

I have a DTA barrel from Short Action Customs. I have been slow to work up a load for this gun as the factory ammo shoots so well.

I think Mark Nitride's his barrels. I wonder if I should take that into consideration.

My inclination is to start at 51.0 or so and load up to around 53.5 in 0.3grain increments.

Thoughts?

I think you meant to write 41 instead of 51. At least I hope you did

I use h4350 and started at 40 going up to 43.5. Waiting for nicer weather to test fire.
