Rifle Scopes 6.5 Guys Shot Show Video - Optics

Anyone visit the bushnell booth this year? I haven't really seen coverage of the XRS II or the DMR Pro. Hell haven't even seen an official announcement of the DMR pro yet.

Helloooooo Nikon. Really interested in seeing reviews on their entire lineup. Always excited to get a camera company into the shooting game.

Nikon camera company and Nikon Sport Optics have nothing in common with each other besides the name. They are kept so separately that they can't even have the same dealer: a company that sells Nikon cameras is not allowed to sell Nikon Sport Optics products.

All of the products from Nikon Sport Optics are farmed out to various OEMs and I am not aware of any of the designs that are unique to Nikon. They have their own reticles and cosmetic details, but that is largely it. The only product they have that is sorta unique to Nikon is the image stabilized rangefinder. Everything else is a "me too" product with snazzy marketing. Now, "me too" is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you think any of the Nikon camera/lens expertise makes it into their sport optics line, that is simply not the case.

That Revic optic is going to sell well. I like the concept. Frank make that a priority to review when it comes out. I'm very very interested in that scope

That REVIC looks like the deal of this century if it holds up to use and does everything it’s says it can! I was expecting a price of at least twice what he quoted. Outstanding!

When I spoke with Revic last year they said the mil version should be out by early this year, but in the video interview he says later this year. Unfortunately they brought out the moa to market first and the mil is taking longer than expected. But I agree, I think it is a great concept especially if you have a spotter as you'd never have to lift your head up to see where elevation is at.

They guy I talked to at SHOT said that 80%-90% of the people who walked over to their booth asked about a mrad version. I think that Aaron Davidson who is behind the company is a MOA guy and coming from the hunting world does not realize how few people on the tactical side of things want to have anything to do with MOA. MOA people are a vocal minority, but a minority nevertheless.

I used to be an MOA guy because I didn't know any different back then. My background is more target and hunting but I have "seen the light" with mil, not saying it is better but once I understood the angular measurement concept it made more sense to me. Chris Thomas knows better so I wonder how many times Chris has told Aaron, "I told you we should have started with Mil" as I can't see that many hunters thrilled to mount a 47oz scope onto their lightweight hunting rig  That being said, I've been on a mini mission to try and educate hunters and explain why FFP is actually better in the field, but I fear too much marketing has been pumped into BDC reticles and too much hype has been stirred causing fear in the eyes of hunters with thinking they'll never be able to take a shot at low magnifications because the reticle is too thin, I think this is perception more than reality. I offer up two examples, one is the March 3-24x52 with FML-1 reticle known to be very small at 3x and the other the Kahles SKMR which is one of the thinnest FFP reticles out, both are perfectly usable to get a shot on center, sure you probably aren't going to read the numbers or anything like that, but we're talking close range, most likely 100 yards or less, are you telling me you won't be able to hit the kill zone of about 10" on a dear because the reticle is too thin? And by the way, the reticle is even cleaner to the naked eye than what these pics show
