6.5 prc

The case is the same length as a 260 rem.

There were just older threads/posts on various boards complaining about the 2.9 COAL not fitting in AI style mags. I've done some digging but my eyes are almost hurting trying to find current threads/info on this and I wasn't sure if this was still an issue. For me, it would be an issue if I could not get these to feed out of a detachable mag box.

Left: 6.5mm SAUM Right: 6.5 PRC. When I was running 6.5 SAUM 3,050 fps with 21” barrel and suppressor was no sweat. My 24” barrel ran 3,150 fps easy.

I didn’t realize how long the PRC was for a short action round. We tested the Hornady Precision Hunter ammunition loaded with 143 ELD-X. We’ll be putting together our findings in a video soon. We have two up and running, a Tikka build and R700 build.

JFC....will be watching for the video.

Maybe fantasy island stuff here,so bear with me.
If I were to use Tikka CTR mags (for use in an Tac A1 chassis),which reamer would be recommended for maximum efficiency with the limited COAL of 2.94?
Which then begs the question, which bullet weight best suit the limitations of a CTR mag?

I would use the .130 freebore. It gives you more seating depth options. With the . 188 you will almost certainly be jumping the 140 hybrid, 147, etc if you keep them mag length.

I doubt very seriously your going to get a PRC to work in the CTR magazine. If that were the case a lot of people would be using them.....

This summer I bought a 6.5 PRC Browning X-Bolt Pro. At 6 lbs. 3 oz. it is mountain rifle weight and this geezer needs to carry less weight. (I live in Nevada - lots of mountains.)

The X-Bolt Pro is Browning's top-of-the-line hunting rifle and has "semi-custom' features like: stainless barreled action, fluted barrel, bolt and bolt handle, factory lapped barrel, carbon fiber stock and burnt bronze Cerakote on everything including the stock.
The trigger is just less than 3 lbs. (2.8) and is a crisp single stage unit but I may get a Timney for it as 2,8 is the lowest I can adjust it.

Yeah the skinny, fluted barrel heats up after 5 fast rounds and groups open from 1/2 MOA to 1.25 MOA. But hey, it's a hunting rifle and I should never need more than 2 shots.
