Anyone have one of these or know where i can find some ballistics for this calliber. Im looking to have one built. I have 2 7mm STW's and am going to take the Rem 700 action off of one and built one of these but just looking for some more info on them. Will be a 30-32in Kreiger barrel shooting a 140 grain Berger VLD. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Frank,

If I want to push the 142 gr SMK's faster and flatter than the 260 Remington, but do NOT want a rebated rim such as on the 6.5x284 or the WSM and Rem SAUM cartriges, what do you recommend in a short action? I'm trying NOT to burn out the barrel with anything under 1500 rounds so what do you recommend?

Re: 6,5mm STW

I've got a 6.5-300 Ack Imp reamer but can't help you with loading data. It belongs to a customer who dropped out of sight about 15 years ago. I've got a 22-284 that was his. Sounds like you two would get along. Speed costs, how fast do you want go and how often do you want to replace the barrel. Depending on what bullet you settle on 600 rounds may be a stretch before you start blowing up bullets. Sure would be flat though.

6.5 Remington Magnum? What can you tell me about this cartridge? Will it feed reliably out of an AICS mag?

Re: 6,5mm STW

6.5 Remington Magnum is an older short magnum cartridge originally marketed in the Remington 600. Which was why it is not very popular IMHO. Col. Jeff Cooper wrote frequently about the .350 Remington Magnum. Both cartridges are based on the same case.

I do not own one but was looking at one for a magnum faced shot action I own.

Here are two items I found quickly:

Good luck

Re: 6,5mm STW

I built a load for a buddy using a 7 STW and it was a horrible cartridge to reload for. Is there any reason that a .260/6.5 Cred/6.5x47 wouldn't do what you want? I've seen them all work well at 800 yards. The only cartridge I've seen work better consistently at further ranges is a 7 WSM (or close derivative).
