Putting together a lightweight 22" Proof barrel 6 BR to have some fun with. Going in a Manners T2FA folder Elite Carbon fiber with mini-chassis. Only road block I'm running into is what action to use. Originally wanted a Big Horn or Defiance Elite but have seen numerous issues with feeding the little round from available magazines.

Have since come across the Borden Super Short 6 action which seems to take care of the magazine/feeding issue. My reservation with this action is down to knowing very little about it and once being committed to it, I can only build a 6 BR or variant off it down the road and the manners stock will be specifically inletted for it which essentially means I'm changing everything if it doesn't work out as planned vs the short action Defiance/Big Horn with interchangeable bolt heads allows me to keep everything.

Thoughts? What are guys in PRS matches using to run a BR?

plenty of guys running BR/variants in all types of actions.

i'm running an origin with zero issues. MDT and AI mags with primal rights mag kits. MDT even makes a dedicated BR/Dasher mag.
buddy ran an impact with no issues
i've seen curtis's with no issues

i know one guy with the borden super short. it ran well, he likes it so far

just pick one and go with it - the problems are minimal and usually easily worked out if they do arise

this is the internet - where people come when they have problems.

for every 1 guy with an issue there are 20 guys without the issue. remember that

Running a Vector with AW mags and the hrd mag kit. No issues after about 2,000 rounds. FWIW the team AI guys are also running a BR in their AXs with a kit similar to the hrd kit.

I will take “Impact” for 1,000, Alex.

Regarding mags, AICS w/ PR kits function well, as do AW mags with the HRD kits providing your action will take them. I’ve recently switched my Comet over to MDT 12-rounders and they’ve been the smoothest of the bunch, but all of them will do the job fine. No FTFs to speak of with any of them feeding the Impact.

I have two 6BR's. A Curtis Axiom and a trued Rem. 700. Both run smooth with the AI mags and PR kits. I'm also making some headway with
the ARC mags and PVA kit.

Guys running the Big Horn TL3, do you feel the cock on close/slight resistance affects your sight picture when speed is important?

I'm still pretty new to bolt actions. I've heard that term but unless someone says "Hey close this bolt, that's what it feels like" I couldn't point it out. That being said, both my TL3s have TT Diamonds in them and working the bolt does not cause much if any shift in sight picture.

my origin is COC and doesn't bother me running it on the clock in match conditions. you don't really notice it

i did however end up timing it myself to reduce the effort needed. but it never effected my shooting negatively

I run my Dasher and BR in TL3's in straight ARC mags, no kits. Feed like butter.
Have a bud with same setup and his fails to feed with just about any and every mag/insert combo. ??‍♂️

Any of the modern actions we use in this sport can be made to handle the BR cases just fine.

Pretty much every action will be listed here. Find one that meets all your "wants" in an action and roll with it.

I have a KS Arms SAR with AW cut for my 22 BR, just waiting for AW mags(takes ages to get those)...

It's suposed to feed flawelessly with AW mags + 6BR kit, i can leave a comment on it ones i got the mags and 6BR kits.

I can’t speak about custom actions, but whilst chambering a round is of primary importance,& many actions combined with various mag kits make this happen, ejection can be an over looked factor.
I’m running a R700 with a Sako extractor & had to shim the claw face to get reliable ejection.

In my experience Surgeon, Defiance, and Impact can all feed the 6BR without issues, it's the magazines that you will have issues with. You can get nosediving or a follower than doesn't want to remain parallel to the action, and that is what causes problems. With that said, the BR variants like the dasher have longer bodies and are much more forgiving. Fireforming is a pain, but mag issues are even worse.
