I have been looking into the 6mm creed for my mega maten.

What bullets are people choosing? I like the looks of using the 115dtac. Relatively low cost. However, will it fire consistently well from this platform?

Was thinking a 24" barrel with a rifle +3 gas system.

Starline brass. Load recipes show h4350 is about right.

What are some accuracy nodes for this bullet? At 2800fps, the predicted drop/drift seems very reasonable.

Honestly, being a gas gun and having lathe.. was looking at using 1.2" blanks from green mountain barrel co. Chrome steel barrel in 1:7 twist. A lot of research says either the barrel will shoot or not.

Idea is to set up for PRS style shooting. Comparing the recoil of 6mm vs 6.5mm.. well, 6mm does what I want. Downside is barrel life. Upside - even if it averages 1moa at 600yds, I am plenty happy. The gmbarrelco is relatively cheap blanks.

Looking at lowest cost possible to get started. After a large amount of experience turning blanks, chambering and shooting - one of those high end barrels may not be a bad idea.

If the 115dtac is a no-go, what would you all recommend?

I read the nosler 105 is pretty wide on production variance. Even the sierra 107 seems more costly.

Recommendations, load datas and experiences please?

That is quite a lot of money.. also, it is a 1:9 twist. The berger calculator was saying I needed at minimum 1:8 and a 1:7.5 was better. Figured a flat 1:7 would be ideal for the lower speeds a gas gun produces.

Is it really /that/ good? Seems like lot of problem waiting to happen..

Sorry MTJ!!! I didn't pay attention to the twist rate since I know I will never go 6mm CM in a gasser.

Proof Research does have a SS pipe with
6 CM247Rifle +3
at $545. Part# 101490, sir.

Again, sorry for not looking at the twist rate.

Appreciated.

Thinking I will try my hand at the green mountain blanks. Found some threads where a few people said the barrels shot well. This is a garage project.. hobby if you will.

Kind of looking for load datas from other gals and guys running the 6mm creed in the AR.

Thinking a JP 'HP' bolt and the starline SR 6mm creedmore brass will square me away well enough.

I dug up threads showing the barrel feed cone/ramp. Some people were having to use two angles. A short 30* cone and a 10* widening chamfer.

My reserve on those expensive barrels.. if I fubar on lathe - ouch!! Also, it is a gas gun. I personally get trigger happy and barrel burning dumb. Many times have I scalded myself on a barrel.

Looking to learn more about specific load data. Projectiles chosen, etcettera.

Seems the prime hits are rl17, rl19 h4350 and then in some uses 4831 seemed to pop up. Superformance. Have a few pages from load manuals.

What I have found here seems to mostly reflect h4350.

Was thinking cci 450 primers. Heard they are pretty firm and compare to the br-4.

I was wondering about those federal ar match primers.

Thinking a well supported firing pin, strong primer cups and decent brass should give my desired 2800-2900fps. Pending on projectile weight. Keep thinking the 115dtac would work well. It is a bit more smooth, less 'pointy' than the 110smk.

Apparently 110smk is very picky. Older threads said most people liked the 105 nosler or 107 sierra.

Please chime in with your personal experiences.

Thank you, everyone.
