6XC Loads

I have been using 38.5 of H4350 for 105 Amax and 105 BTHP, and 39 for 105 Berger Hybrid. My H4350 supply is running low, a local shop has a bunch of IMR4350 and was wondering what results anybody found using IMR.

My current 6XC load mirrors Rich's load. 2950 from a Schneider 5P chambered by McMillan.

39.6 H4350
Norma brass
115 HBN DTAC
Russian primer
The original barrel from my SpecTacLr only went about 2000 rounds and was shot with moly and 40.0 H4350. I can't bring myself to trash it though, it shot so well!!!

I have a Surgeon Scalpel 6XC which is a fairly recent build. My wife is currently in the hospital so I've been unable to load for my newly received XC. I've been unable to find ANY 105 Hybrids. I do have some 105 Hunting VLD's and have 1,000 Hornady BTHP's being held at a local shop until I can get there. However, I want to shoot Hybrids. Anyone willing to part with some?

If I can leave the hospital this weekend I will load some VLD's and BTHP's and break in the barrel. Again, if anyone is interested in selling or trading (just ask, i may have what you want) some 105 Hybrids, please let me know.

39.5 H4350 and 105-107 anything jump .010 works well for me in a 26 in 1-7.5 Bartlein 5R and Barnard P action. 10 shots will group under .5 with a sling and irons at 100.
40.0 RE17 with Moly 115 DTACS jumping .010 resulted in a 200-17x at 600 yds iron sights and a sling.
37.0 Varget with a 90 Lapua was tremendously accurate as well.

Norma brass is great, but hard to find, and I don't have that many.. I did not like the win 22-250 brass due to smaller base and thin rim, but have had great results with Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor brass sized into 6xc brass, no neck turning required, equal capacity to Norma brass. Recently made some 6xc Brass from Lapua 308 Palma brass to try. had to turn the necks on these. Made 25 just to try. Havent had a chance yet. I will probably sort out 100 pieces of regular lapua 308 brass to use for matches. I size in a 260 rem die, then a 243 die, then in a 6xc die by screwing it down a half turn at a time from first contact on the shoulder to full length sizing. then trim and run in a mandrel, turn the neck, then size again with a .268 bushing and load. pretty easy to do. I use dillon spray lube on the cases once in the begining, never ube again. I tried imperial but it would cause crushed shulders 50% of the time, no matter how thin a coat i thought I had, the dillon lube hasnt crushed one yet.

This is almost exactly my setup and result - except I'm shooting a 30" tube. Haven't had the need to push to 39.5, but 39.0-39.3 worked brilliantly.

What is involved in turning creedmoor brass into xc brass?

I use Norma 6XC brass and eliminate the forming. I have 1700 rounds through my gun on hte first 200 pieces. I believe that the 200 pieces that I bought will survive the life of the current barrel. And I already have 200 more for my next barrel. Which I already have as well.

War Eagle!

What's your thoughts on using Norma 22-250 brass?

Norma brass
Lapua Scenar Silverjacket (moly) 105gr
VV N140 36,4gr
CCI200
.005" jam
3025fps with 9fps SD, from
Tikka M595 with 24" barrel, 8" twist 6 grooves. Custom contour.
And this is how it printed from 300m Target-2Target-1Target-4Target-3 when I was testing this load.

Next test will be with 42.4gr of N160. I have tested this load a bit all ready. It prints well too, but I don´t have speed yet.

Hello sir, Blake here. I was wondering how the performance of the .308 PALMA SR primer brass was for you? Did you notice tighter ES/SD and/or accuracy improvement? Wondering because Id love to try a 6.5 Creedmoor, 6XC, 6.5 SLR, 6 CM, or something similar using .308 PALMA small primer brass. Could basically have an enlarged 6.5x47L/6x47L if you played it right, and theoretically the improved accuracy to go along with it. I know for a fact numerous Palma and F-TR shooters have reported tighter vertical using the small primer brass, and would think you could have the same effect with something like a 6.5 SLR along with the improved ballistics and brass life.
