Suppressors 7.62 suppressor going on a 260?

Re: 7.62 suppressor going on a 260?

Swap out my 308 can to a 270 Win without problems.
You need to thread the barrel and size an appropriate adapter for the "new" gun and screw it on.

Is it quiet-yeah.
As quiet as on the 308 probably not but it is suppressed and you still get the supersonic crack of the round.
Do I need muffs or ear plugs using it with the 270 - nope.

Technically you lose some efficiency by doing it but it is still quiet.

My POI changes considerably on the 270- nearly 5 inches at 100 yards with the can screwed on. Remember to sight in with the suppressor and record it somewhere or leave the can on and crank the scope settings to the new POI.

I will let the more adept answer in greater detail but yes it does work.

Could you give us some specs on that rifle? Looks outstanding, and according to the video, shoots pretty darn well also.

Getting back to the OPs question, I have a gemtech hvt that I use on and savage 308 and 260, and my ears can't tell the difference.

Re: 7.62 suppressor going on a 260?

I use a thread on can for my .260. But .30cal can is all i run on it. even if someone offered a .264 can i'd pass as it make no sense to me as my can will handle up to .300wm pressures.

Re: 7.62 suppressor going on a 260?

I run a SWR Omega 30 can on my .260. Formally was a .308 and I think with my new barrel, and new cartridge it's quieter, but that's just my opinion.

I think the noise reduction is due to 4" of additional barrel, and using 3gr less powder. Less gas volume, and lower pressure at bullet exit helps the suppressor work. Again, all my opinion which is neither professional, nor qualified. I have friends I regularly shoot with and we all agree that the .260 sounds different from the .308.
