7 IVPOs compared out to 600yds

These are the scopes he compared with live fire out to 600yds:

- SwampFox WarHawk 2-10x44
- Primary Arms GLx 2.5-10x44
- March FX 1.5-15x42
- Athlon Helos BTR II 2-12x42
- Steiner H6Xi 2-12x42
- Vector Continental 2-12x44
- Leupold Mk4HD 2.5-10x42

He does reticle holds, then dialing methods for trajectory compensation. Gives you a great look into how optical differences from the center of the FOV come into play with some scopes vs others. Also showed which ones don’t do well with dialing due to running out of mechanical travel.

Only thing I can add is he could have used a 6mm ARC or Grendel to get solid, loud impacts on steel. It’s extremely difficult to see or hear a lot of the .223 Rem impacts.

He certainly got my attention with the Vector...I consider myself somewhat scope savvy (naturally, because of this site, to include Glassaholic, DLO, and a few others!), but I was ignorant of that whole line....
Those videos certainly were a labor of love and useful on many levels.

I have one of the Vector Veyron 3-12x44 compact scopes and was surprised at the glass quality for such a low end scope. I used it on my PCP airguns for short range squirrel hunting. Came across an extra 3-10 weaver tactical and switched as the tactical was lighter than the Vector with LOW glass.

Did the Vector hold up ok?

I don’t think I could ever buy a scope with the name “SwampFox” emblazoned upon its side. “Warhawk” just adds to the braggadocio.

“Lo, I am the Fox of the Swamp with my Hawk of War at my side!”

I bought a swampfox lpvo probably 5 years ago. You will think I'm lying. I would call you a liar if you said what I'm about to say, but it is one of the clearest and crispest scopes I've ever looked through. Everyone I've ever handed it to was in shock. It's the only swampfox optic I've ever been in the same room with, and they are surely Chinese junk or whatever. It may break into pieces tomorrow, and I wouldn't even be shocked, but the glass makes no sense. You'd swear you were looking through true alpha glass. I know, I know, but I'm telling you the truth.

Oh yeah, I’m not disparaging the quality of the optic or the clarity of the glass. I just can’t stand that dumb name.

Finally got a chance to put the Athlon 2-12 through its paces today after mounting and zeroing yesterday on my 11.5 5.56 SBR. Really liking the reticle for my uses. No issues ringing steel out to 600. Thought the center dot would be too big initially, but now think it’s just about perfect. Biggest shock was how well it did with glare. Less than ideal conditions shooting into a setting sun and didn’t have any issues, even without the sunshade. Aesthetically looks a little awkward on my setup, but I’m a function over form kinda guy. Will run it for the next year to get a better feel for it, but so far very happy especially considering the price point.

Shortly after reading this thread, i stumbled into a steal on a Sig Tango msr 2-12×44 and ordered it. I have had one of their 1-10 lpvo msr optics for 6 months. The glass isn't great, but it holds zero bouncing around in my truck. I've used it to kill a few coyotes and a couple deer. Their mpvo seems like it might be a little better (a 6X vs a 10x zoom), and it's ffp and illuminated. I'll report back..

I have a helos 2-12 on a 22lr. It’s a killer optic for the money. I really hope Athlon listens to the people and builds something in the Cronus line. Japanese glass and a 34mm tube would be an instant hit.

I'd almost want it the other way, like down to a 1" tube. Why - is that I'd rather have the scope weigh less and for a scope in this mag range a ton of elevation travel isn't a priority at all to me.

It's what compromises we want to settle for by trading one feature, or attribute, for another.

But yeah I'm hoping a Cronus grade version comes out too. I want daylight bright illume is part of it. I also don't want to pay tier 1 money for a 2-12.
