Hey I can't figure out why I am only getting a 2" drop at 200yds. I am zeroed at 100yds and have fired 2 groups that are both on average 2" low. I do not own a chronograph but might have to borrow one and confirm my muzzle velocity. I am 750' above sea level and using the ballistic calculators I should be 4.5" low. I am shooting out of a 26" 700 using 168gr FGMM ammunition. I am just curious if anyone else has had this problem. The other curious thing is my friends 700 pss is doing the same thing, using FGMM but a different lot number.

Re: 700-FGMM 168gr 200yds. -2.5"

Both rifles have Badger Base/rings, and I was going by the .823 for the rings and the base is 7mm thick, converts to .2756"+.823=1.099". I also know the barometric pressure and Temp but still is giving out 4.5"-4.8" drop when I run it in three different calculators. I will try to go out and shoot 300 next week, but I am am pointing more towards muzzle velocity.
The best I can figure now without conformation is the velocity is close to 2700ft/sec, My original estimation 1.5" for the sight was a little off.

Sight height is usually calculated from the center of the bore, so u'll be adding more. 1.5" to 2.0" range is accurate. Try it at 300yds and see what you get.

As the saying goes; it is what it is.

Rob01 has a good picture in this thread depicting the proper way to measure:

Re: 700-FGMM 168gr 200yds. -2.5"

For FGMM 168s, I'm averaging 2723 fps out of DTA Covert with a 22" 11-twist barrel and 2713 fps out of a GAP Crusader with a 22" 11-twist barrel. I don't think that MV is outside the realm of possibility for your 26" pipe.

With my 700p I always used 2 moa as my 200 yard correction with 168 FGMM and was dead on. Never had a chance to chrono it though, and not all barrels are created equal.

Re: 700-FGMM 168gr 200yds. -2.5"

I've been driving a 24" 700P with 168 gr. FGMM for a long time. Day in/day out I get a 4" drop at 200 yards. Check your 100 yard zero and make sure you're not hitting high to begin with. You might also want to run a box test on your scope to verify the click value.
