I'm getting ready to do a re-barrel on a rifle of mine in 7-300 WSM, I am planning on having the chamber and throat cut around the variable of one of these bullets to fit magazine length. I chose the cartridge based on the fact that the rifle is currently a 270 WSM with a barrel that's torched and the fact that I'll actually be able to get Norma 270WSM brass and just neck up with a mandrel then size and load. vs going to the 7WSM and having to fire form. Anyway on to the question.
Obviously the Hybrid has a better BC, but I'm wondering which of the 2 (hybrid or VLD) will give me the most case capacity considering that the OAL will be dependent on the magazine. I know the difference will be small but since I'm having the chamber and throat cut to accommodate the magazine length, I'm already giving up a bit of capacity in order to run the heavy high BC bullets in the first place. So which bullet is longer and therefore going to have to be seated deeper to get it in the magazine?
EDIT: Is there anyone here that has some of the 180 gr Hybrids handy that can give me some dimensions off them? The dimensions I need are as follows.
Total Length of the bullet
Length from the tail to the ogive
Length of the boat tail
From those 3 dims I should be able to determine all I need to know. Thanks in advance.
