OK , where have we settled on the 175 gr Eldx,s in 7mm PRC ? For me 68.5 of H1000 is a 2950 ft/sec 1 MOA or better . Its a 3.3 COAL , in ADG with VOLUMES around 81.55 gr of water . Anybody got another load that works too ?
cheers

I’m just starting to load 7 PRC. I would like to get close to the Hornady factory 175 ELDX. I’m gonna use H4831SC powder starting at 62 grains in Hornady brass. My rifle has 26” barrel. I’m fine with 2900 fps which is about where Hornady factory is. I’m gonna use magnum primers. What I’m not sure about is COAL? The Hornady factory ammo I bought is 3.283” COAL but their load data lists 3.265”. This is confusing. I’m calling Hornady today to ask about this. I know they are changing powders trying to get to 3000 fps listed on box. I’m picking up a Hornady Lock N Load dummy round today to measure the throat length in my rifle. I’ll probably start 20-30 thousandths off that for jump. Seems to me IF you seat longer COAL the pressure will drop for same powder charge. So 3.3-3.265= 0.035”. Any suggestions on starting COAL? Go with Hornady 3.265” or longer ? As long as 2900 with no pressure signs (cratered primers, stiff bolt) I’m just interested in best groups.
