been playing with some loads this week and have two that shoot realy well but i'm concerned with explosion on one

first load is 140gr Accubond over 98gr of Retumbo giving me 3563fps average , accurace is around .750" 5 shot groups at 225yds

Second load is 162gr A-max over 94gr Retumbo giving me 3232fps average gouping is very very good in the .6's with two right at 1/2"

I'm thinking that the A-max at this speed will blowup pretty bad on deer and I'm not sure if the added BC will make that much of a differance in drop at 600yds over the faster 140gr load?

I know dead is dead but I's like a pass through with the bullet

I don't know if the a-max will blow up, but they will not pass through. Accubonds are grouping good, I would use them. You might want to try TTSX. I haven't recovered any that I have shot from my 7mm rem. But I still prefer accubonds, they group tighter in my savage.

Yea , thats what i'm affraid of , I'm sure they would be great for longer ranges but if I have to make a 100-200yd shot I don't wanna have to throw half the deer away. I have a buddy that shoots a 257 Weatherby loaded with 80gr Tripple shocks at around 3600fps and that thing kills like a lightening bolt. I saw him shoot a huge feral hog 400+lbs at around 200yds and it just colapsed , shot right behind the shoulder.

I read alot of P.O. Ackley's wrightings and how he though that to a point bullet construction diden't matter that much with extreme velocities , his referance was 50-55gr bullets from a 220 Swift and also the hot 17 cals.

So im thinking that the 140's out of this beast may have the same effect

I have had excellent results with the 160gr Nosler Accubond on top of 86gr of IMR 7828. This is a grain over max in the book( Nosler 6th Addition)but my rifle shoots it well with no pressure signs.

That's exactly what I was gonna say or just go with the sst's.
