for those of you that have built one , what are you using for an OAL. Are you able to keep them in the AI mags with the 162amax/168 VLD bullets.

I am thinking pretty hard about building one, sort of a duel purpose hunting / tactical comp rifle. It would be prtty tough to beat if you can push those bullets at 2700-2800 FPS out of a 24inch barrel.

I would love to know what you guys are getting for barrel life. I would think it would be a little better than the 260's but you never know.

I run my 162 Amax's at <span style="text-decoration: line-through">2.635</span> 2.835". Still playing with load development, 40.3gr I4895 gets me 2630fps (24" Douglas) with no pressure signs, so next time I'm gonna heat it up a bit.

thanks for the info . 2.635 OAL is pretty short isnt it?

I'm running Seekins detatch mag system in my 708 and no need to worry about OAL issues. Haven't had time to find a load for it but you won't be sorry if you do go that road....
