I remember a few years back.. heck maybe even longer ago than that.. that the 7WSM was becoming a favorite of long range shooters. Is there still love for the 7WSM as a long range round or have others stepped up in it's place? Just curious as I hadn't seen anything on it in a while.

The 7mm is just a fad. You need to buy more 270s and 30 cals. Leave those overrated 7mm bullets for me!

Must not be reading the forums much. Seems every week someone asks for a 7mm mag recommendation.

I see a lot of 7mm's on the 1000 yard line at the local matches including mine. The only thing I think that's really holding back the 7WSM is the quality of brass. I went through 200 factory new pieces a couple months ago and could not get 50 to weigh with in 1.0 grain of each other. Ended up have to settle for 3.0 grains and that more than I like. I think the round would explode if Lapua would make a quality brass case in this calibre.

I remember when I was looking at my last build it was between this and the .260 Rem. I went with the .260 at that time. Now thinking maybe the 7WSM build may be next.

I have 2 and lover them.
I bought tons of brass when I moved to this chambering (more then enough to burn out two barrels - even assuming onyl 4 or 5 loads per case then chucking them into the recycle bin). With my move to annealing a while ago, I am getting more like 9 or 10 loads per case before they meet the recycle bin (annealing every 2 or 3 firings).
I have not had any similar problems with Don, mine is all close in weight, with a spread of only about 4 grains over a 1,000 case lot (dam glad that I bought 1,900 case at that time).
Oh yeah..if you want to weight them, do it AFTER you prep the cases, a lot can change when you size, trim and uniform the primer pockets.
