Fellow gave me about 50 90 grian bergers...Has anyone here tried these in a 7 twist with any promising results?

I have read where they work well and also where they aint worth a damn in the 7 twist..My intentions are to
start slow and try different ogive lengths to see..Load them as berger suggest..

I just can't figure why they suggest loading 6 rounds of each..Anyone understand this ?

Thanks..

Yes...they work quite well in my 22" 1:7 223 Ackely @ 2750fps and shot very well at 650yd (furthest I ever tried them). That said, I never put more than a box through the rifle because the 90s really don't get me much at 650 compared to the 80 Amax (and especially the 80 ELD).

Curious on loads. I picked up a box of 90s they have just been sitting on my bench. I have some VV N540 I figure would be perfect any load suggestions?

In Quickload N540 looks very promising, pressures rise fast so be careful.

Most folks shooting the 90's have an extremely long freebore. COAL on loaded rounds are over 2.700. If mag feeding and keeping below 2.550 your not going to be able to run the higher 2850 fps nodes. I would try and find where it shot around 2650-2700. Your also going to need to shoot a faster powder since the bullet is so far down in the case. I'd think, 8208 XBR, H4895 or AR Comp would produce best results. I've never shot a VV powder so I won't comment on them. They normally shoot best slightly jammed or just touching the lands. I've got a 223 trainer that I might try and shoot them out of just to see if I can make them shoot, but in my FTR gun they hammer, shot several sub 2" 7-10 shot groups at 600 with them.
