Any reviews on the Hornady 95 grain V-Max from Copper Creek and Hornady 95 grain ammo?
I haven't shot 6.5 CM for over 4 years, I was using a 26 inch Shilen Select Match barrel on a Savage action. Was getting half inch groups at 200 yards with Copper Creek ammo.
Just finished an AR in 6.5 Creedmoor, not expecting it or me to shoot over 500 yards. I have some Hornady 147 ELD-M coming but was looking over at Copper Creek.
Really intrigued by their 95 grain Hornady V-Max for several reasons.
First the recoil will be less than a 147 grain and I have a VERY BAD shooting shoulder. I know how to build low recoil AR large frame rifles because of this.
Recently getting great groups from my 4 pound AR308 with 110 grain Nossler factory ammo.
So looking at the specs the Copper Creek Hornady 95 V-Max is really flat shooting, out of a 24 inch barrel 3310 fps and only 21.6" drop at 400 yards and only 68" drop at 600 yards. The Hornady specs states only 16.9" drop at 400 yards? A plus is the Hornady ammo is almost $14 a box less.
Will be using a Faxon 18" Match Series barrel with 8 twist and 5R. So I expect 100 to 150 fps less, but still will be faster than the 147 grain Hornady factory ammo.
