7'-3" is a big assed rattler. That mofo would put a grade A hurt on a guy. Looks like it will make for a nice bit of grillin too!

I'm not sure about the accuracy of that snake being 7'3". If that man is an average of 6 feet, we're looking at a snake at least 10 feet long, probably bigger than that. It looks about as long as that cruiser. I've owned snakes in the past, a burmese python being the largest (not quite 7' when I sold her), and this snake is a hell of a lot bigger than my snake was.

you also have to realize that the man in the pic is at least 3 -5 feet behind the snake so that would make the snake about 7 1/2FT to 8FT long

Many years ago there was a picture in either Field and Stream or Outdoor Life of a rattler killed down in Florida that was over 12 feet long.
I have not seen the picture in the store at Goshen, VA but there is supposed to be a picture of rattler killed near there in the '20's that was over 12 feet long.
My biggest personal kill/fry snack was 3'8". Good eating.

I got to see one on Camp Pendleton that had to be at least 10ft long. Its head had to be about 8in wide.
It stood with its head erect over the dead grass (over 3ft off the ground). Actually took me a long time to figure out what it was. Originally, I thought it was a Crane type bird. It wasn't till the Marine I was pulling duty with asked what it was. Thats when it hit me.
