Hunting & Fishing A Crying Shame

A buddy of mine was watching this deer in the field before it was light enough to get a shot with his bow.
He was about 50 yards away, and he didn't want to risk a bad shot in low light. Besides, the deer could easily work in his direction and present a good shot.

Along comes a doe trotting across the field.
The buck snaps around and gives chase.
They both go bounding across the nearby highway.
The doe got away clean.
The buck wound up dead on the side of the road.

Re: A Crying Shame

Man when I worked traffic at Fort Stewart, I had a little kit I made. I would respond to a POV/Deer, write the BS report real quick, drag it in the tree line real quick, pull the back straps out real quick, put it all back in my trunk real quick and go Code 4..lol Those were the days man. You could keep them in GA at the time.

Nice buck...sorry to hear about the loss.

Hah...you crack my shit up man. I would've done the same in a heartbeat. Animal control has to be called in Austin, but sometimes they never get to the animal in time for it to be used for any good. I'd rather pack the freezer.

Re: A Crying Shame

The picture is my buddy, the guy who was trying to get the deer into bow range.

Animals killed by vehicle here are first come, first served.
No big deal.
If nobody wants them, they call the highway maintenance guys and they haul them to the dump or drag them into the woods, depending on the location of the kill.

No go here in TX. </div></div>

Game warden here calls me when there is one that she needs picked up. Even delivers them sometimes. Lol. Sure helps keep the freezer full.
