Today we went to the Magnum range in Sanger, Texas. First, no suppressors. Owner's wife said that "suppressors are illegal in Texas even with a stamp." Yeah, whatever. No full auto, no shotguns, no tracers. Charge was $15 to shoot. Appeared to be room for maybe two pistol shooters. Went to the rifle range, where there was room for maybe 10 shooters at some tables. Bring your own targets, staples, any other supplies you need.
No range officer during the week. Which actually would have been nice to have as some redneck bubba brought his Marlin lever action to the line while the rest of us were downrange. When we all got back, bubba announced that he didnt know how to zero his rifle, which looked like he just pulled it out of his favorite storage place, a swamp.
Now the good part - downrange are a series of dirt piles and loads of smashed/shot up shipping pallets which the shooter can construct into some sort of makeshift target stand, as the range doesn't provide any target stands. The 10mph or so wind that was blowing today pretty much deconstructed anything we piled together to hang a target on.
Conclusion: Between the bubba factor, no RO, high cost, and no target stands, I would not recommend the Magnum range.
