I've been on this site for some time now, trying to learn to shoot a rifle. It's all starting to come together for me, and I give a lot of the credit to the guys here who are so willing to give of their time and experience. In particular, Greg Langelius and Sterling Shooter have drilled the principals of natural POA and a relaxed position into my thinking.

I shot at the local monthly match yesterday and shot the best I ever have and also had a couple of breakthrough moments where it all clicked in my head.

My thanks to the two of you and to all the others who have helped so willingly.

Re: A word of thanks

Wow, thanks.

I believe that what you do when you need to do it is something that follows naturally from disciplining yourself to slow down, clear your mind, and just follow the basics. If you have to think about it, you're just distracting yourself. That's why you train. That's why you should own a .22 and use the heck out of it. Training has no end; it is a constant, like eat, sleep, breathe. Do it right, and only right. Do it often. Or, don't do it at all. Marksmanship is a perishable skill.

I guess its like mental marksmanship

You train to the point that your subconscious mind takes over and you do everything on autopilot.

Your conscious mind focus' on only the things that matter to what your doing and everything else blocks out, while you naturally just do it and make it all come together.
