There are two different suppressors that AAC made that attach to the barrel under the handguard. Think "SD" if you will.
This is a new product that was purpose-built for a particular military customer. The Honey Badger is AAC's submission and I'm sure it will do very well.
From what I've been told all submissions are built around the 300 Blackout cartridge.

Meh. Seems like the 458 socom has more potential for a sub sonic round. The 300 blk Has 500 ft/lbs with a 220gr at sub sonic speeds in a 30 cal vs 1340ish ft/lbs with a 600gr 458. Sure the 458 is a short range round but in a short barrel weapon with a can it's a better choice IMOP. Also I don't see the military moving to a new specialty caliber weapon vs a 9mm mp5.
I would love to see a 300 blk happen or a 458 cqb weapon.

1. Does not hold 30 rounds.
2. Does not work in normal magazines.

That makes sense seeing as how the buffer tube is so short. This kinda reminds me of the LWRC UCIW (Ultra Compact Individual Weapon. Speaking of. Is the Honey badger Piston or DI?

Smith is a Vietnam Veteran, and he makes a good product. In my 9 years in the military our 50's had no flash suppressors of any kind.
I'm sure whatever advantage you're proposing existed is slight at best. The larger benefit is that the country got flash suppressors to replace blind muzzles with no flash suppressors.
The rifle looks like a good replacement for the MP5. Was Gold the actual intended color? Does the cheek rest sit where the firer's face is, or is it short?

Sure, that may be true, but - at least I believe - the right way to go is to consider everything and pick the best based purely on performance and reliability.
Affirmative action is not right or fair. A white airplane mechanic who makes $20 an hour and has a son cannot get that son into Harvard as easily as the hispanic guy who owns the jet that he repairs. Setting aside business for special groups such as woman owned, minority owned, or small business is just wrong.

Is the 300 blkout that effective? I don't know much about the round but at a recent LE ballistics gel class a guy was testing one with 220's and all it did was spear the gel. no fragmenting, yawing, nothing. Just a straight hole through the gel. Cut the bullet out and it looked as if it could be reloaded. Don't know if that is normal or not as that was my first experience seeing the round in use. nearly no recoil though.
