Does anyone at this company return phone calls or emails? jesus christ. i have been sending email after email to this email address ([email protected]) that is on the website and i get fricken crickets. FYI, there is no phone number listed on the site either and everything is backordered. I guess Jon doesnt want my money.

Does anyone know how to get a hold of these people or should i just move on? I just want to know how long the back orders are taking.

Hmmmm, odd. I have bought two sets of caps from Jon. Both times, they had to be built. IIRC, they took about a week each time. Think I e-mailed him once and had a response in about 24 hours. Understand your frustration, but I never had anything I would characterize as a problem. Keep us posted though, sometimes, things do go sideways.

In the past I have ordered from scope caps from him on three separate occasions. I got an order recite via email upon placing the order, after 2 to 5 weeks the caps showed up at my door. I think in the past he has said he is not going to hold a lot of inventory but he will build your order as fast as he can. I only wish he had a little better prices because his caps are top notch.

Only slightly more expensive than tenebraex caps and seem to be better quality. i just hate it when retailers wont respond.

I work for a company that won't respond to leadtime inquiries until after an order is placed. It seems like kind of shitty customer service, but there's another side to it. We get a lot of tire kickers in my industry that won't place an order, no matter what your stated leadtime is. We also have customers beat us up because "our leadtime is too long". We tell them to place their order and we will do everything we can to expedite and in many cases we can expedite. They still don't place the order, but they still bitch about it. Our factory order book is fluid and changing all the time. On the rare occasion where the factory does give us attractive leadtime information in advance of an order, we always quote leadtime "ARO", or "After Receipt of Order". Well, the customer drags their feet for three weeks and guess what ? They have long since lost their spot in the production Queue, but that doesn't stop them from bitching.
Look at it this way.......Compare Aadland's leadtime to any of the major Stock Makers. They don't want to maintain inventory either, they are all made to order. Now, is Aadland really that bad ?

I just wanted to know. I ordered a tripod from Shadowtech, right on the website it says backordered, approx 3 week shipping times. thats all i would expect. give me a ballpark. consumers deserve to know what the leadtimes are, approximately, before they fork over their cash.

Yep, I don't disagree with you.....But, not something I/we can change.

Spelled out right at the bottom of each scope types page. Seems like it’s exactly what you wanted as far as info.

I understand. The first time I ordered a set from him I too wondered about the silence. I have since bought 5 more sets of caps and 1 mount from him. They are the only caps I use and have no plans to change this.

Excellent caps, can't even recall how many sets I have anymore. Never a failure or an issue. That backordered indication doesn't bother me in the least. Never had a set take more than the two week estimate.

I ordered two sets (one for an ERS, one for a DMR2) back around Xmas, figuring they'd show when they show. They were shipped just under 2 weeks later and received shortly thereafter. Wish they were cheaper, but liking them so far.

I have reached out twice. First Time was to ask if they made a one piece mount for a S&B Ultra Short with illumination knob. Two weeks later I get a email asking me for dimensions. No i'm not making this up. Really your in the biz and asking me for specs. So I let it go and moved on. Fast forward maybe a month and this is my next experience with this company. I follow the dark lord of optics and place value in his reviews. He did a review of their scope caps and it was a convincing enough review for me . Go to their web site, Select one set for the Kahles and one set for the S&B. Next step the check out process. Shipping options would not allow me to select regular US Mail. Could not turn off priority mail option for 25 $. Will I spend 25 dollars to have some one ship me 2 sets of scope caps that would fit in a padded shipping envelope? NFW. I may spend more than I should on some things but I will not spend foolishly. Sorry I'm not in the one percent crowd. Maybe its whoever is managing the web page but as someone pointed out a phone number may be helpful. I work with the public every day, And I am there to serve them.
Still waiting on a response from the email I sent them for shipping costs.

I ordered on may 2, got a confirmation email right away. Said id get another email when they were shipping. Priority mail was the cheapest option. $7.95. Slightly annoying not to have a cheaper shipping option, but some companies wont ship standard mail.

I know Jon fairly well. He is an Aerospace Engineer for Boeing. He says you can pull the AADMOUNT caps off by pulling of the cap itself. They come with a lifetime guarantee. I have 3 pairs on my scopes now. You will definitely be more than pleased when you receive the AADMOUNT lens covers. Butler Creek can't even get close to Jon's lens covers. Jon also makes bomb-proof scope mounts. Like every engineer I've known, his rings and unitized mounts are beefy and exude strength. In addition to my 3 sets of lens covers I have a 34mm AR scope mount. I love all the stuff Jon makes.

For those who haven't seen these in person here's a bunch of pictures I took of my first pair. The US Optic (favorite scope ever by the way) has a 58mm objective lens so I had a hard time finding covers and stumbled into these. Now all of my scopes have them.
They are metal or metal ish with a very thin almost rhino liner type coating. A bit hard to close because there's a pretty tight lip to secure them shut. But they open quickly and "clunk" into almost a full 270. I especially like them on my nightforce eye piece because on a nightforce the whole cover and eyepiece move when you adjust magnification (I hate that uggh). 20180511_082723.jpg20180511_082749.jpg20180511_082808.jpg20180511_082710.jpg20180511_082713.jpg20180511_082705.jpg20180511_082815.jpg20180511_082620.jpg20180511_082842.jpg

They are extremely well built. I have no complaints whatsoever about their quality. Communication is all that needs improvement. But I get it, this isn’t his only gig.

Just ordered my first pair of caps from them based on reviews here, guess I'll have to wait awhile before I get them. Looking forward to not having to put up with the finicky ones that came with the scope.

Any thoughts on their throw levers for a S&B PM II?

They are 3D printed on an SLS machine. They're also nice, I dig printing. I'm curious if he works at a university or a larger company with an SLS machine, because they are quite pricey and a bitch to keep running.

That explains the finish. I have been trying to figure out how "an injection molded part" would be anything other than smooth. Turns out, it's not injection molded, thanks for clearing that up. Other than my (very) minor gripe about the finish, I would have his caps on all my scopes. I have multiple ZP5's and they came with Tenabraex caps. I like Aadlands better, but the differences are not great enough to cause me to shell out the dough for all new Aadlands. If a Tenabraex breaks, or something along those lines, I will replace with Aadlands.

I think that also explains the delay in production, they're probably made to order since running those types of printers is expensive and really slow. I wonder why the surface is as granulated as it is, lots of SLS prints can be considerably smoother, you'd probably think they were molded. That being said, I kinda like the rough finish, feels....good to me, but that's a preference.
