No they still make them but supposedly they only sell these to Military. I have two of them and both were given to me. I know that they are around 500 bucks.. </div></div>

You wouldn't want to give me the other one would ya?

I got a USO bubble level from Bauer Arms made for the AI dovetail.

On the Atlas bipod.... By far the best thing since sliced bread. I have had the AW bipod and would not trade someone my atlas if they wanted an even swap. If you are looking for a good bipod for your AI rifle or any other rifle. Buy the Atlas, you will not regret it.

My little Remington 700 in .223AI with the new .223 AICS mags:

First batch of mags is in and gone but we will have more available shortly drop us a line if you want some and we will get you added to the list.

Here are a few pics for ya, the bullets are .223AI with 77gr SMK's seated to 2.340" for your reference(Sorry for the dog hair in the close up pic!):

Re: Accuracy International Pics

Drumie,

They seem to fit in the double pouch that Red Tac Gear makes, could add a piece of foam in the bottom to take up some of the room but the mags fit in there just fine other than they sit down in the pouch a little bit more than the 10rd 308 mag...

Hahaha, no, not slip on. It is the factory AI .338LM brake. It requires M18x1.5 threads and a shoulder/profile arrangement like this:

The Badger FTE brake is very similar (ie a copy) but has different threads.

Hey Zak, Yep it is a Badger FTE. The barrel is a Bartlien that Moon worked up for me. Its a fluted #7 and i figured while it was there just go ahead and put an FTE on it since they really do look just like a factory brake. This barrel replaced the 24" non braked factory. I love the new combo, the barrel is a laser and the brake works very well.

Thats what drew me into them.

Re: Accuracy International Pics

I just bought an AW without a bipod. I noticed most people are using the Harris bipod in lieu of the AI bipod. Must be a reason.

I would like feed back on which is better and why before I spend the coin.

If you can find one, get the Atlas Bipod by Accu-Shot and get the spigot model

Re: Accuracy International Pics

I've not tried the Atlas but the AI bipod is much nicer than a Harris. To the point that I'm going to try and retrofit an attachment point to a McMillan next time around.

From what I read, the British get the choice of the Harris or Parker-Hale design bipod for use with the L115 (.338 AWM). Almost all of them use the Harris exclusively. Is the Parker-Hale style really that bad / fragile ?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Is the Parker-Hale style really that bad / fragile ?</div></div>
I couldn't say why anyone else prefers a particular bipod, but I prefer the AI due to features and I don't see how anyone could complain about its "fragility" (Ha!) compared to a Harris.

I prefer the AI bipod because it has more yaw/play, never hops, is more easily deployable and stowable with one hand, and is more easily adjustable when in position, and has no external springs.

Re: Accuracy International Pics

The AI bipod is awesome.

I'd need to see some evidence that the British are indeed doing that.

I do know that the one AWSM that I used (marked as an L115) has the AI bipod.

Really? Because, while I'm sure they're out there, I don't think I've seen a single pic of the MOD L115A3s sporting the P-H/AI bipod:

I'd like the P-H/AI bipod more if the legs didn't want to extend at every slight jostle. I'm using harris now and eventually plan on trying out the Atlas.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">e if the legs didn't want to extend at every slight jostle.</div></div>
I've shot the AI/PH bipod (actually four of them on as many rifles) since 2005 and I don't have them do this. What is happening exactly?

Mine only extend when stowed if I hit the button.

Re: Accuracy International Pics

The PH/AI bipod is a great bipod and I would never say the PH is fragile. I rather suspect it's weight and noise are stronger considerations for a military sniper rifle.

Sure, the PH on/off feature is second to none (currently) but to consider keeping it off the rifle to eliminate the noise, bare in mind that the time it takes to fish it (or any) bipod out of a bag/pocket and attach it, one might have missed the opportunity for its need in the first place!

But this is just my opinion.

However, while I can't speak with any authority about the Brits and their choice of gear, I do know some local guys that have money and run AI rifles in rough places, are choosing neither AI nor Harris bipods....this fact warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.

Here is a little bit of trivia, with both hands holding the AI stock with the AI bipod attached, at chest level, you can snap it in a downward motion towards the deck, and abruptly stop at arms length (same type of used to "flick" a knife open), and the bipod legs will deploy. Kinda cool, well most the time it's kinda cool.

If you look and compare the arm Tats. The guy in the last photo with the AWM appears to be the new record holder.

Half the British army have tats like that! Cpl Harrison has sleeves on both fore arms.

Re: Accuracy International Pics

Could someone please bump up or post up a pic of the AI bipod on the gun? I can identify a Harris or an Atlas, but am unsure what the AI looks like.

Thanks!

Edit- Found one on an AIAW in the FS forum, so I think I have it figured out now!

Re: Accuracy International Pics

Fellows,

Don't get wrapped around the axle on the Harris's on L115A3s; the procurers got fixated on anti-cant locks. AI didn't want to mod their bipod to have an anti-cant lock; so the Harris was bought.
I think you'll find most users think the Harris is a less-robust, twangy and awkward annoyance. Shame the procurers didn't ask them.
